So far, Manโs World was a perplexing experience.ย
While flying overhead, Diana had marveled at the architecture of the modern city and the lights that lit up the earth, a facsimile ofย stars in the night sky. Of course, she also had been unable to see those same stars due to the radiance coming from all the buildings and labyrinthine streets.
When she landed, the Amazon was overcome by the noiseย and people- crowds of people everywhere going about their lives and dressed in garments so utterly strange compared to the armor Diana had on. It was all overwhelming, beyond anything her motherโs cautionary words could have prepared her for.ย It was a blessing that Steve Trevor was there to offer some guidance and direction for Diana to begin in the midst of all these new experiences.
The Princess wished she had listened when he told her to โstay putโ as he dealt with some urgent business making contact with somebody under his command. Diana wanted to insist on urgency, but this call seemed of the utmost importance and it was hard to fault the man. He had been missing for days at this point.
After he stepped away,ย the Amazonโs curiosity got the better of her and, though she did not mean to wander far, she lost sight of Colonel Trevor. That was when the fight happened.ย
In a whirlwind of events to follow, Diana found herself willingly taken into custody by guards who took her in and placed her in a cell. These guards, police, interpreted Dianaโs explanations of her identity and her mission as mere madness. The entire ordeal was infuriating, until Mr. Murdock, an oratorโฆno he had called himself a lawyer, arrived.ย Unlike the officers, he treated Diana with respect and understanding as she spoke and truly seemed as if he wanted to help her. There was a calm sort of quality to the manโs voice, that seemed both assured and reassuring.
โI do have a friend. Colonel Steve Trevor. I am sure that he would vouch for me.โ Diana sat up straighter, an idea sparking like a light in her eyes. โOr they could give my lariat back. Then they could see the truth without question.โ
