What is Do You See Me?

Do You See Me? Is a Monster’s university AU that I’ve had for a while, but just changed the name to. It was formerly known as Dead Weight.

It follows my original character, Isaiah hardscrabble And Johnny Worthington. The story focuses on both character’s struggles that they face throughout their collage life. These common struggles between the two will form a Relationship that will be accompanied by a lot of rocky slopes. I won’t say anymore as I want to show it through these story posts. Hope y’all stick around :D

I used to do drag several years back when I was exploring my gender during a hard period of my life, dealing with body dysmorphia along with an autoimmune disease, going to college, etc. Being in an art school with other people who were experimenting and labeling their identities was hard when I didn't feel like any specific gender. I felt I couldn't relate to the community that was supposed to model acceptance of self when I didn't like any of the confining labels or my body. I remember being a teen listening to Will Wood's "I/Me/Myself," and a college student watching "Pose" and imagining what it would be like to feel comfortable in my body. It inspired me to find ways to explore and embrace my body and existance in new ways: performance. Dressing up and performing as a drag king and queen had been a comfort years before I finally got the time and support I needed to take steps to make my human experience comfortable within the body I resided in. These are the two outfits I wore the most! I don't have a label I use, nor a specific flag to carry. All I know is that I feel more like me, and I love me. To everyone who is still discovering themselves and those who find nothing quite describes the beautiful experience of knowing who you are and being proud of the indescribable existence of pure love that is you, I wish you all a happy Pride Month! <3 You are loved.

Jam sesh!!! The absolute badass, Isaiah, belongs to @mu-molerat! Vee can't play a single instrument except percusions, and even then i don't see her grabbing anything except the maracas, castanets, tambourines, cymbals, and drums (she doesn't play those very well but she likes the deep sounds of drums). She would do her absolute best to keep up with Isaiah if he ever invited her to jam out. She thinks Isaiah's ability to play a guitar is the coolest thing ever, watching his claw-like hands fly across the strings and produce actual music as he strums the pick. Thank you so much for allowing me to draw him! ^U^

“laugh power is apparently this so called cure for scream energy. Monsters no longer have to work hard, and prove themselves. They can just waltz in any factory and be praised for abandoning their nature. Praised for breaking down decades of discipline, and hardship. THE SO CALLED SAVIORS OF ENERGY HAVE NO CONDITIONS! It’s an insult to monsters like us who had to fight for our respect, or places and meaning in this Gods forsaken world. Our struggle holds no place, no worth, no reward. As laugh power grows, or efforts fade. WE CANNOT FADE!… For every cure, there’s a plague it’s trying to snuff out.. We are the plague to laugh power. WE WILL NOT LET THEM CURE US! We are the judged in their light. Step out of their beams and embrace the untouched darkness for it is what held us so dear so long ago..” -Randall

So he’s officially lost his shit.

Johnny and Isaiah’s marriage is rocky in this Au, both are taking up jobs they’re not happy with. And johnny is suppressing his feelings regarding his situation with his dad. They will often be passive aggressive with each other. They try to hide it, but others can practically sense the awkward tension between them. So much so their daughters have began to catch on.

Isaiah: “why can’t you not be obsessed with work for just a day? Take a break my love please…”

Johnny: “I can’t afford to do that Isaiah.

Isaiah: “But you can. We can afford to. We both provide for this family Johnny. All of this weight doesn’t fall on you.”

Johnny: “But it does. It has to! I need to do more for you, and our daughters, and-“

Isaiah: “There’s nothing more you need to do! We live a comfortable life. You don’t-“

Johnny: “comfortable is not enough for me!…

Since Johnny is the head of laugh research he’s the one doing interviews with news outlets. Which also means he occasionally has to interact with his father.

In this monsters at work AU Johnny doesn’t take on the role of inheriting his Dad’s company. Before graduating MU he cut all contact with his father. He managed to get hired at Monsters inc as a scarer, and later on he would adapt to becoming a jokester, and move his way up to being ahead of the laughter research team.

To recap Randall’s role, he was able to return to the monster world after reconstructing a door from the human side. He returned around the time monsters inc was switching to laugh power. This pissed Randall off. So He decided to gather up a small group of “outcast” monsters to help him sabotage Monsters Inc and any other companies switching to laugh power. What’s different now, is Jack is providing Randall with the resources needed to carry out his plans.

He stole a gun from the human world. And killed the humans who owned said gun.

Isaiah is the president of the marketing team for Monsters Inc. He’s practically exhausted from trying to get Mike not to spend more money on useless things.

The shock of seeing three of his partners, his uncle, and a rival company employee and his human son, was too much of a shock for Johnny, and he succumbed to unconsciousness.
