I’m simply in awe.
Some older fan art I made of Paul Atreides from Dune with my interpretation of a stillsuit.
You’re never gonna believe this
Guys is dune good?
Hnnnnnggghhh
“The North Pole is so beautiful when the sun is low. Dashing through the snow. You can see cocoa in the air. At nightfall, the sleighs land. They ravage our lands in front of our eyes. Their cruelty to the elves is all I’ve known.”
Another classic from over there.
I haven't seen it get mentioned on Tumblr yet but Samsung has just gotten caught in a hilarious scam: they apparently advertised how their latest phones can take great picture of the moon, compared to other phones!
But it turns out they aren't using machine-learning to clear up blurry pictures, they're using machine-learning to detect when you're taking a picture of the moon, and then they swap in a saved PNG file of the moon.
A reddit user figured this out by taking a photo of the moon from Wikipedia, blurring it in photoshop, then trying to photograph it from across the room with all the lights turned out.
Their Samsung phone somehow managed to "clear up" the blurriness and recover details that weren't there in the first place. Because it's just cheating.
Pretty demoralizing that since this happened companies basically still do the same thing we just accept it and call it upscaling.
Current events.
This is currently doing numbers on the hell site.
Actually, some medical conditions / prescriptions require just that! I am a cis-gendered woman. I was diagnosed with a medical condition a while back that a urologist prescribed a couple of topical creams for from a compounding lab. I only had them a short time and did not re-up my prescription because my insurance would not cover them. Anyway, my creams consisted of an estriodol-cream (I believe it was low-level, as in not HRT-level) and of another cream that contained testosterone. Apparently, AFAB bodies do generate a certain level of testosterone... not in masculine-quantities, but it's not like we have none and sometimes the balance can get out of whack. So, in a sense, I was (at low-level) taking both for a little while, in a skin-cream form.
Hmmmmm do me a favor and put your hand in this box real quick

This cover from a Brazilian 2021 edition is my favorite for reasons that I think are obvious lol
Two responses to this I’m really enjoying:
1) People tagging their friends who absolutely have to see this.
2) People who haven’t gotten to this book yet or maybe have only scene the movie saying something like “I can’t believe they drew a face on the worm.”
Oh my god, it’s part of a box set
Dune Heritage Post
The first time I saw this post (before i started reading the series) I thought "ha why the fuck would a sandworm have a human face, silly artist" and then partway through the third book I had a Realization
