i really wish supernatural had kept the grimy, gorey, “religious” undertone it had in the early seasons. the early seasons give me the vibes of a stained glass window in a chruch, a renaissance painting, that kind of religious undertone, yknow? the difference between the early seasons and the later ones is so astonishing, its basically a different show. the early ones are, simply put; gross. shape shifters left behind piles of skin tissue and blood, it was disgusting. and that was the beauty of the show. scenes in churches were metaphorical, everything had a reason. like the scene with sam pointing to a painting off screen, while seemingly pointing at dean, asking a priest, “father, that’s michael, right?”, thats what made supernatural. later seasons just dont have that same feeling. theyre too clean.
