From the creators of Much Ado About a Webseries comes CITY EAST, a feature length urban fantasy full of magic, monsters, humor, and horror. Split into four separate yet interconnected stories, City East follows the Grim Reaper as she seeks to fulfill a dying man's last wish, a trio of guardian spirits fighting against the darkness, an inhuman psychopath hired to hunt down a thief on the run, and a world-weary street musician struggling with immortality. As this imaginative quartet unfolds--each one affecting the others both directly and indirectly--their individual tales weave together to form a dark, poignant fable about life, death, good, and evil.

What We Need

Creating monsters, costuming spirits, and capturing them all on film isn't going to be easy--especially without a budget. We need your help to bring the fantastical world of City East to life.

Our goal is to raise $5,000, but no matter how much money our campaign makes, we will be making this film. Your contributions will go towards making it the best it can be, by renting quality camera, light, and sound equipment, purchasing proper editing and effects software, and making the costumes, props, and make-up as good as we can.

We also need you to spread the word, even if you can't donate. So tell your friends about us! Tell your dog! Tell your friend's dog! Anything that will help this project reach as wide of an audience as it can.

Curious question, does your Hero have an anxiety disorder in the canon? I was just wondering, because of the mention of meds and what looked like an anxiety attack after the EP launch episode.

Short Answer: Yes.

Long Answer: When I was trying to find ways transport Shakespeare’s text to modern day, an anxiety attack seemed to be the most realistic way to interpret Hero’s fainting at the top of Act IV, so I made the decision for Hero to have an anxiety disorder. I originally intended it to be way less vague, but with how tight we ended up keeping the episodes, it was hard to work it into the text without completely derailing an episode or feeling a bit too “after school special” for my comfort. Anxiety (as with any other disorder) is obviously a sensitive topic that doesn’t get a lot of mainstream representation, and I didn’t want to mishandle it or come across as using it to be “edgy”. Had we drawn the series out longer, I definitely would have explored the subject more. As it is, however, Hero’s anxiety is left up to the audience to pick up on.
