Well crafted - Though Typical Hollywood - Hollywood always finds a picnic time for the characters even in between a taut thriller. They rarely go for a tonally consistent Whiplash (I see Damein as one of the writers on the film)

It thrills in parts

The writers construct is quite evident -1.) leaving the booze bottle in the car can then be used to burn up the creature. 2.) The girl has to stitch a suit and make a gas mask, why not make her an aspiring designer

Son of Saul - 06/05/2016

Incredibly relentless. Nothing to comment upon as the style is pretty much documentary. It's achieved what it set out to. Acting is not acting but reacting It isn't concerned with drawing us to a fixed opinion about the holocaust. You are there. And this is what happened. And the shock and chaos is all too real. Superbly done. But you can still feel the construct of the fiction in the surly realism - Nemes can't avoid that limitation of the medium - saul has to find a rabbi, cause the story has to move on, saul has to be safe all this while even after taking the most dangerous risks, even when others around are dying quite cheaply, he has to be alive, cause he moves the film, he can't help put a hallucinatory image of a kid in the end who comes out of nowhere, cause you have to feel nice about Saul's hope. But overall its a remarkable feat!!!

Jeff does a big budget Jeff

It’s typical jeff - Family ties is again the real story underneath genre story

Isn’t as good as Take Shelter - There was real character development in Take Shelter. This one is affected by the multiple characters

More mysterious than Take Shelter - Don’t know if that’s good or bad.

Too early to like - dislike it - Still trying to decide what I felt. 

Favorite dialogue - “I like worrying about you”

Ending bordering ridiculous

Aliens like ‘They exist’ from Carpenter

They are shouting Spielberg a lot, but I felt a lil bit of ‘The Master’ (In the Cult Scenes)

Reco - A lot of it is nichol pulling off conveniences, though his strongest elements - Landscapes, minimalism, fresh immersive CGI, are in place. It’s divided me for sure.
