The night air out was distinctly spring. The nuance was lost on Shyarly, for whom the odd changes of the seasons on land was still something she had yet to experience in a full cycle. Leaves were scarce on the streets, street lights complimenting the purple clouds left by the sunset.
She had left the spa in it’s full sway, the calming voices of the singers she hired offering a sweet goodnight to though who would not stay later, Shyarly stepped out to bring back some drinks from a small market that was down the street. They had been getting low on supplies more often with the spike of popularity.
Walking alone though the dark, she neared the light of the corner store. Glaceing to the alleyways caused Shyarly’s body to freeze, a hand reaching to her chest. There was a girl standing in stark white against the darkness, hands obscured under wispy sleeves. The adornment on her head was mistaken for the headband of a spirit for a moment, before Shyarly’s image of a ghost faded away into just the figure of a strange woman who looked rather morose.
“Are you trying to give people a fright standing there? This isn’t the type of night for that.”
In this city so foreign to her, the night was the only thing that offered Sung-sun some comfort. It had not been long since she arrived, and thus everything around her was still new and strange. So human, she felt slightly out of place. The ways of the living never interested her per se, the tall concrete buildings and streets were only the background of the battlefield in her memory. Now she found herself walking through a mirror of that town she disliked and that brought back so many bad memories.
The moon was shiny right above her. Unlike Hueco Mundo’s in its eternal crescent state, this one was full, in all its glory. It was a strange sight, one she found out she liked.
She walked with the sound of crickets as her only company, the streets lonely and quiet just as she liked. There was nothing unusual, until she caught movement on the corner of her eye. A woman she had never seen before stood there, baffled, with her mouth agape. She seemed in shock. Sung-sun glanced around slightly, wondering if there was something around her that had been the cause of such reaction, but found herself alone, and then she understood. Her hand traveled up to her mouth, covering it. With a hint of amusement, she glanced back at the woman.
“You look as if you had seen something eerie. Should a grown-up woman be scared of ghosts?”
