Yesterday I went skating. Not to practice skills, not to work on drills, not to train or work hard, but because it was fun. I went with a friend, who is on a team (the one I tried out for),and we just skated. We talked about drills, what we need work on, and all kinds of derby related things, but we just skated. There was no pressure to do better or try harder, we just had fun.

It reminds me of why I like derby so much, and what skating means to me. I felt so uplifted after two hours of outdoor recreational skating that I want to keep that feeling with me.

Sometimes we need to just let everything go and have fun. It brings everything else back into perspective.

I love this look!

Those weird red things replacing my wheel nuts are the @suregripskateco #zeronutz (got em in my May @boutbetties box). I tried em out doing some plow stop work in my driveway this morning and they are pretty cool. Held up well and didn't come lose at all!
