I owe you everything... Scully, you owe me nothing
The Post-Modern Prometheus (5.5)
I told my bestie I started writing x-files fanfic. She was unsurprisingly super supportive- she knows I'm obsessed and that I've been meaning to get back into writing/find more creative outlets.
How do other folks engage with this in real life?
Do friends and family know and support?
Do you just say you write generally and not mention specifics?
Is it your fun lil secret or are you loud and proud?
Zero judgement either way, Im just curious!
I definitely keep it to myself for everyone irl. It gives me a freedom to write whatever I want and I never actually met any friend that has told me they read fanfiction.
Also in my case in the xtf fandom id also have to tell people I know my name is Mulders Meat
🎊 Happy Birthday to Scully edition! 🎊

This is finally chapter two, as well as the finished watercolour for @danascullymd1013 for Poang Pals Presents 2025! My bad for taking forever, and tbh it IS kinda embarrassing. It was a mix of performance anxiety and also, full disclosure, I got into a mobile game, which is always a terrible idea. IT'S SO CUTE THOUGH. As for the watercolour, it is definitely the worry of it turning out shitty, but I did it after the chapter was done, and I felt so close to the goal, that in total I probably only spent like an hour on it lmao. I’m still feel pretty like a beginner for watercolour in a lot of ways (especially people) and honestly I cut some corners. I regret Mulder’s arm so much. I did photoshop it a bit because the original looks… uhhh, I couldn’t move the colour where I needed it
Anyway I hope everyone likes it! Rated E, and this is the beginning of it. The rest is posted on AO3!
-------------------------
Scully found herself in a mundane luxury: She woke up naturally. Usually she found herself woken up by phone calls of "Scully, you're not going to believe this," or "Scully, are you doing anything? I got these two tickets to buttfuck Idaho to find the mystic monster that’s been alive for 1000 years. This simply cannot wait," or on a more drab side of things, her alarm clock. As she got gently lulled into the real world, her other senses were starting to engage. The first was touch, though her brain wasn't completely up to taking in the signals. She felt warm and secure. There was an acceptably soft bedding around her, and, strangely enough, there was a comforting weight on her. Blankets aren't usually this heavy. They aren't usually this warm either.
Her sense of smell kicked in next. Her body has long since got used to the distinctive smell of hotels, but there was a different smell there. It wasn't a bad scent, in fact, it was quite nice and lulled her in. She opened her eyes and got them to focus. After the heartbeat of shock, it all came rushing back, and it was replaced with an odd mixture of comfort and giddiness, like something that she wasn't supposed to do, but it felt so right.
Right beside her, with tussled hair and a face void of stress, was a sleeping Mulder. His breathing was a steady rhythm, his eyes were firmly shut, and he had his arm over her, loosely holding her there. A stray thought consumed Scully's mind: He looked so cute. This was a Mulder rarely seen. Sleep often evaded him, and in the waking world he was usually on tasks like a dog. Here he was more akin to a sleeping puppy. All he needed was the leg twitches and he could say he was dreaming of running, which is a lot better than his usual nightmares. Another devious thought came to her. She needed closer.
Rest is here!
This is my gift for @danascullymd1013 for the poangpresent2025 event! It was a joy making your gift for you, and as you loved both The Rain King and loved fluf, so I was happy to oblige! One bed fics are also my beloved, so I could not help to not only draw artwork, but also write fic for it. I did bite off more than I could chew though, so the next chapter is coming by next weekend, but it will also involve smut (I also felt a little weird posting smut on christmas anyway? Santa will judge me hahahaha. but no judging, I too often just click the E section and go from there lmao). I also hope to paint the sketch and fit some things, anatomy wise by the next chapter too. Sorry I didn't finish; my bad. My plans is to paint it via watercolour, and watercolour intimates me lol. I also haven't painted people in that medium since high school, so idk how it'll turn out. The fic a03 link is here but I'll also post the full thing here. I'm already cutting it close to christmas, so there might be some grammar issues or whatever, but I'll have another read through tomorrow. Anyway, I hope you like it! I'm not a seasoned fan fic writer by any means, and also drawing people are hard

Merry Christmas @muldersmeat! 'Tis I, your @poangpals Secret Santa. I got the vibe early on that you enjoy lighthearted Mulder and Scully, and once you said you love playing DDR, I just got the thought, how cute would it be if they played?! I hope you like it! :)
Silly little accompanying ficlet behind the cut as well...
omghghhtd I LOVE THIS. This is so sweet and I love the incorporation with both. Hahaha it makes perfect sense that Scully would do the more logical thing and actually use the bars that are there. The artwork is also really went done! I know a dynamic, in movement pose like this is hard to do and you pulled it off nicely, and the lighting is really cool. Also the fic made me grin like an idiot
Thank you so much for the gift, and Merry Christmas!
Hey secret pal!
Sorry it's been a while. Your last answers were great, and I've been working away on your gift. I'm nervous but excited. 😅
I just wanted to pop by to say hi, and I hope you're finding time to enjoy the holiday season! It's crazy how fast these weeks have flown by.
See you soon! 👀
That's okay! This season has gone by SO fast! I can't believe its Christmas eve! Thanks for the nice message and im so excited to see it (as well as everyone else's!) I hope you have a great holiday as well !
Hi again, secret pal! Thank you for your previous answers. I am still pondering how to approach your gift 👀... so I'm back with a couple more questions!
Since I asked about MSR last time, this time I'm curious, what else do you love about The X-Files?
And for a lil non-XF question, what are some things you like to do for fun?!
Have great week! :)
Haha don't worry, I am having the same problem with my own gift lol.
You know, its kinda funny, because on the outside it's not actually something that I would like, as I'm not either a sci-fi or a horror liking person. Stating that, I think for me, they have it toned down enough for someone like me to enjoy it.
Otherwise, I feel that when the writing is good, it really is a fun time (there is some times when it is not/ disagreed with how the story ended up going), the chemistry of the actors really elevated this aspect as well (I admit it, they do look mighty fine too). I also liked that while it had episodes where every moment is important to the plot (tm), not every episode were like that. I don't watch much modern tv, but I find a lot of them are like that, and you MUST watch all the other episodes to even have a clue what is happening. Sometimes I want a silly episode about cockroaches and txf delivers on that aspect . I do also like they pepper in jokes or fun episodes but it is not meant to be a comedy? I'm probably missing a lot, but somehow it just hits different. Most of the time, I'm sitting down to 45 minutes of me being invested in whatever bs Mulder is throwing at me, and for someone that is not really a tv watching person, he's doing something right.
On the outside of the show, it has a special aspect because it is one that I watched with my family a lot. Also, one of my other interests is the old internet as technology from this era. Txf is a trailblazer of online fandom culture, and it is extremely fascinating to me how a 30 year old fandom operated back then, and evolved. Its so neat when you hear about stuff like the Spookies, or people's own website shrines, etc. Meanwhile today you get to be so spoiled with fanworks both old and new. It's really cool.
Ahh, well it feels like I'm busy a lot of the time, but I do enjoy playing some games from time to time! Nowadays I feel like pick up and play games are more up my alley but one of my favourite gaming franchises is harvest moon (which eventually became story of seasons... it's a whole thing). I also used to play DDR a lot, and would love to again once I get a place to properly play it. I also like to draw and paint! I have also succumbed to the international passtime of doomscrolling... more than I like lol.
forever thinking about that episode of x-files where scully is just grasping at a bucket of fried chicken as a core plot point of the episode
I like that out of context these screenshots make it look like Scully is fine with cannibalism, but she draws the line at extending the human lifespan
Hey there! It is I, your X-Files Secret Santa, stopping by with a question for you...
Which kind of MSR interactions are your favorite? Cute and flirty? Soft and tender? Angsty and make you wanna cry?!
If you've got a few specific scenes in mind I'd love to hear 'em.
Hope you're having a wonderful weekend! 💚
Sorry for taking forever! I had a busy week 😩. Also I had to think about it for a bit. I DO love the cute and flirty. Them gently teasing each other is always so fun, but in the show and in fics, like when mulder says some silly thing to try to get scully to laugh/smile . A lil' bit of angst is always good, but I have to be in the right mood for the super sad. I am a sucker for sick fics for example type "angst", which I suppose the soft and tender come in. One of the things i love about msr is how much they have each others back when they need each other (unless they are legit abducted) but also know each other enough to know when.
Unfortunately, I like it all hahaha.

Gillian Anderson’s 30 Fav. X-Files Moments (2002 Edition)
I’d never have expected for the above to make GA’s “Most Memorable X-Files Moments” when she was asked to list them in 2002.An anon directed me to track these down and as I’ve never seen this on tumblr I thought I’d share - thanks nonny! Originally posted to her website it’s interesting to note that she doesn’t remember much more in 2002 than she does in 2016 and detail she does go into are mostly cute and personal. The Duane Barry crawling and notes on David Nutter and Beyond the Sea are my favourites!
Answer: Some of my favorite memories of working on the show (and not necessarily in order of importance or weight or much of anything but the order in which I remembered them.)
1. Directing “All Things.”
2. Singing Jeremiah Was A Bullfrog to Mulder in Detour.
3. Shooting “Triangle.”
4. Shooting “Cops.”
5. Shooting the kiss/bee scene in the movie.
6. Shooting the scene where Mulder shows Scully how to hit a baseball in “The Unnatural.”
7. Shooting “Bad Blood” but especially the autopsy scene.
8. Doing the elephant autopsy in “Fearful Symmetry.”
9. In the first season the crew used to crowd around a t.v. screen on Friday nights and watch the show over lunch. That was fun and exciting for us.
10. I remember when the casting director told me I had the job after the final network audition and I had to drive a fellow auditioning actress that I knew back to her hotel knowing that I had the job and not letting on or being able to talk about it.
11. Shooting the graveside scene in the pilot in forced freezing rain at some ungodly hour in the morning and trying to remember my name let alone whole paragraphs of dialogue.
12. Shooting scenes in the snow in Vancouver wearing a skirt and high heals and trying not to slide down hill.. .or having to use an umbrella so that my hair did not have to be blown out before every take.
13. Telling David in his trailer that I was pregnant and him telling me that he felt his knees buckle. Blue, as a puppy was lying sick on his bed behind him having just been spayed.
14. Watching Jim Rose do his famous genital tricks in his trailer during the shooting of Humbug.
15. In one of the very first episodes, Mulder and Scully are to look at red lights in the sky that may be UFOs and follow their flying path. David and I were standing on a windy hilltop looking out onto the pitch black heavens with the cameras on our faces and being directed where to look in EXACTLY the same place at the same time (up down left right).. .but with NOTHING TO LOOK AT AS A GUIDE! It was absurd.
16. Shooting Scully and Mulder’s final kiss scene at the end of “Existence.”
17. Shooting the dance sequence at the end of “The Post-Modern Prometheus.”
18. I remember sitting at a wooden table with David on the set when Pendrell was shot and David telling me about this date he had with a woman whose name he would not tell me but it was kind of like the tea that you drink.
19. Sitting in a luncheon booth on the North Vancouver lot with David Nutter and for the very first time going over a script with a director beat by beat and how exhilarating that was to be creative that way and have someone care what my feedback and impressions and instincts were. The script was “Beyond The Sea.”
20. Shooting the scene where Scully’s stomach is pumped with air in an abduction sequence and trying not to reveal that it was actually a pregnant belly being shot. I’ll have to show that scene to Piper one of these years.
21. Lying in a hospital bed on set ten days after giving birth to Piper. Hooked up to tubes and wires and drifting in and out of sleep while they shot around me and being wheeled to and from the bed in a wheelchair. Surreal. I’d just been there!
22. Shooting a scene in a rowboat in the middle of a lake all by myself for hours and my lactating breasts getting so swollen that I thought I might explode.
23. Shooting a scene in an episode about cats where Scully has to be attacked in the face by a cat but I am allergic so they built a cat on a stick covered in bunny für whose arms could be operated by some poor special effects guy. So here I am “struggling” with this fake bunny/cat in my face pretending to get scratched and be terrified when the fake fur keeps sticking to my lipstick and going up my nose and Kim Manners and I cannot stop cracking up at the ludicrousness of it all.
24. Lying on the floor eight months pregnant and being pushed by someone across the floor to simulate me “crawling” because I was so big and my belly was in the way and 1 could not do it myself. I think it was “Duane Barry.”
25. Sitting in the back of a jeep on one of the stages pretending to be attacked by imaginary (CGI) green bugs who are going to cocoon us and suck our life out of us… flailing away at them with all my might and then whenever we cut, turning to a big garbage can to my left and throwing up because I had horrible morning sickness.
26. When Chris Carter walked into my hospital room a day or two after Piper was born and was stopped in his tracks by the sight of this living being propped up beside me. We sat in silence for a long time.
27. Talking to Chris on some payphone outside some restaurant a couple nights before I was to go back to Network for the final audition and him giving me notes on how to dress more ‘streamlined’ for the Network Execs… I borrowed a suit.
28. Talking to David for the very first time outside the audition as he chatted up the girls and commenting on the fact that I was from N.Y. and not really meaning FROM FROM but the disappointment which flashed across his face when I qualified that I had only actually lived there a couple years. He moved on to someone else.
29. Experiencing Rob Bowman directing for the first time, setting up elaborate shots and the crew standing around thinking what is this new guy doing spending all this time with these fancy angles.. .cut to.. .the established norm. And thank God.
30. The last day of shooting in Vancouver when the make-up artist had to redo my make-up three and four times before every take cause I was crying so much. I imagine the same will be said in a little over a month. We won’t get anything shot.
5x20. It’s canon that Mulder keeps a photo of them on his office pinboard. I’m not sure I can take the cuteness…
