SEVERANCE (2022 - )
What are you, my nana? Yesterday, you people gave me a hand grenade. Are you seriously gonna begrudge me some H?
do innies not have access to the uncanny valley part of their brain. why are they not more freaked out about the doppelgängers thing
now that Mary is divorced I think she should consider Robert’s original idea to go to the middle west and bring back a cowboy and shake things up. I think they could handle it now
Rewatching Knives Out and during Wake Up Dead Man I straight up did not remember that Harlan Thrombey did the exact same thing as Grace Wicks’s father. Or, not really or at all.
Because Harlan in his kindness found a kind person to receive his inheritance after deciding to deprive his family of the money for their own good. Wick’s Grandfather was a literal priest who could not find it in his heart to give the money to his daughter he believed unworthy, and did not think to give the money to literally anyone else either. Took the fucking money to the grave with him. And in the movie’s epilogue that money is still sitting untouched. Father Jud can’t even invest it in the very church that Father Wicks built without possibly going to jail. Insane contrast. God-awful waste.
One thing I liked about the last season of You is how it revealed the way that public image plays into patriarchy and how patriarchy plays into public image.
Joe is seen as this perfect boyfriend for doing simple things like holding Kate's bag and uses that image - an image that he could have never built without his wife and her money - and he uses that as both shield and weapon and people agree because this is a white cis straight guy who would believe his marginalized victims over him? We should scrutinize them over looking at him because he is the feminist boyfriend, he's one half of a power couple and sure he's the less successful, less rich, less important part but he's the guy. And you know, he probably lets her be more successful than him. He's all humble and holds her bag. He's pretty. He's sexy. There's probably something wrong with the people who accuse him.
And in the end it's the fact that Louise shot his dick that makes his image crumble. It was foreshadowed that it would be his masculinity being put into question that would be his fall when he broke down during the interview but the fact that they did it so overtly really got me. Like yeah. That's all it came down to in the end.

Wednesday the 15th. What an excellent day. Middle of the week, middle of the month. Truly, we are in the middle of things.

I think what people are missing about lee ross (andrew scott's character) in wake up dead man is that his fan base are all smelly men. could it be a misunderstanding of who reads scifi/fantasy? absolutely, but I actually don't think it is. if you've ever been to a book-oriented convention (I have) I can tell you at least half the people you see there-- the most involved fans-- are women and trans people. and you have to really do some shit to have a fanbase that is so OVERWHELMINGLY (not just majority) male. even warhammer hasn't pulled it off.
intelligent women have always been heavily involved in science fiction. hello, we MADE star trek. if your base as an author looks like lee ross', you've successfully alienated the majority of people who make you successful by complaining that they aren't making you successful enough ("libtard"). the mark of success for an author like ross is that women like you. and women don't like him, probably because of what he says publicly.
and ill fucking die on this hill
