Title: Don’t You Worry

Pairing: Negan x Melody (OC)

Summary: Melody goes to find Negan after he’s been captured.

Warnings: Major character death, mentions of sex, fluff

“Negan?” she yelled down the damp basement hallway, in hopes he was strong enough to yell back somehow. 

 "Mel?“ she heard his weak, raspy voice in one of the cells. She quickly ran towards the voice, tear streaming down her face as she finally found the love of her life on the floor, trying to crawl towards the medal bars that separated the two.

  "Oh my god Negan, you really are alive.” she couldn’t stop crying as she reached through the space between the bars to grab his cold hand. 

 "You came… you found me" Negan choked out, his body starting to regain a little strength. 

 "Don’t move anymore, I’m getting you out.“ Melody started kicking at the lock that kept her from him. After what felt like hours, he lock finally broke. She pushed open the bars and ran directly to Negan, who was still laying on the dirty, wet floor. She studied his beaten face and let out a sob. 

He didn’t deserve this. 

 "Negan come on.” She grabbed his right arm and threw it over her shoulders as she tried to stand him up. With what little strength Negan had, he stood up, putting most of his support on Melody. 

 "You’re going to be okay. Rick is here too, he’ll help carry you to the car. Just please stay with me" She whimpered as she slowly walked out of the cell with Negan. 

 "You found me" Negan repeated as he tried to concentrate on walking as well as taking in the face he’s been dreaming of every night since he was taken. Melody turned her head as much as she could to look him in the eyes. 

 "I will always find you.“ She whispered, more tears falling down her cheeks. 

"Okay, enough of that.” They heard behind them, right before a gun shot sounded. Everything went in slow motion. Melody and Negan looked at each other, tears filling both their eyes has they both came tumbling down. 

Negan landed on top of Melody, who was laying in a small puddle of her own blood. She was shot. They say that you see your life flash in scenes before you die. They were right. But all she saw was Negan. All the times they spent together. All the incredible memories they’ve created. From the beginning, when Rick first invited her to stay at Alexandria, meeting Negan while she was training.

 His sly comments on her appearance and how she was “more badass than any women he’s met so far in this hellhole of a world.” Then to when they first made love, telling him he was her first. To their first “I love you’s”, him saying he never thought he would be capable to love again.

 She also saw their fight. The fight she thought would end it between them, but only lead to angry sex later. And finally, to the last time she saw him, looking like he was going into battle. He carried Lucille high and proud on he shoulder like he knew he was going to win.

 With Rick by his side, they were going to be invincible. Melody couldn’t help but sob into his shoulder as she hugged his tight. She knew something bad was going to happen. She was finally happy, but she knew deep down that he was going to get hurt. 

“I love you” she breathed out, tears sliding off his leather jacket. He moved her head with his hand and looked her in the eyes. 

“That sounded awfully like a goodbye.” He wiped her falling tears with his thumb. “I will be back before you know it, doll. Don’t you worry about me. You can’t get rid of me that easily.” With one last kiss, he walked away. 

 The image of Lucille on his shoulder and his black hair glistening in the sun was the last thing she saw as she starting coming back to reality. She could feel arms wrapped around her and someones breathing over her. She opened her eyes and saw her gun on the floor, along with a grey haired man laying in his own blood a few feet away from her. 

She looked up to see Negan in tears, holding her close. She smiled. Negan looked down at her, brushing the hair from her face. “Does it hurt?” he asked, putting more pressure on her wound. She used what was left of her strength to lift her hand and put it in his cheek. 

 "No" she whispered softly. “Don’t you worry about me…” She started quoting him as she felt her heart slowing down. She closed her eyes, starting to fall more and more into unconsciousness.

 "Thank you,“ was the last thing she heard. ”… for teaching me what it feels like to love again.“
