Life is a series of Puzzle pieces.

Recently, me and my partner have decided to partake in the vigorous and dangerous sport that is…puzzles. It isn’t exactly a normal thing of couples in our age range, at least not something that is a conversation starter…but we love it, it keeps us entertained, it gives us something to do whilst we’re waiting for the kids to get ready after the millionth time of asking.

The thing that I have come to realise though, is that like a puzzle, life is a series of puzzle pieces. You start out with a table of pieces that could be anything, you have no idea where any of them go or what to do with any of them. You begin to find the edges, to establish the parameters of this new puzzle, you give it definition, the puzzle takes shape. As you slowly place the pieces it starts to take shape and you can see where it is going. But the puzzle gets harder, there are areas of grey and brown, you’re unsure of what piece goes next, you can’t see clearly and you feel stuck, sometimes when you don’t know what to do you’ll feel angry, like you want to give up.

But you don’t, you persevere and then you find the right piece, it fits perfectly and you can carry on with the pieces. No matter how long you spent searching for the right fit, the right piece, you forget the hard times, and remember that you found the way, you took a step towards your goal, the picture becomes clearer.

Everyone gets stuck, some people have it figured out some people don’t find a piece for what feels like an age, but as long as you’re finding the pieces that fit your specific puzzle, it doesn’t matter. We all go periods of time without finding the right piece, but you keep trying until it falls into place. I guess that is where I am in life at the moment, I feel like a huge section of puzzle has all just fallen into place…and do you know what? It feels pretty great.
