One thing about Frankenstein I don't see people talking about is how the Creature doesn't ask for a wife from Victor, he wants a companion. Victor takes it as him wanting a wife but the Creature never said that. He just wanted a friend.

just saw the new Superman and yknow what I keep thinking about?.. when he’s fighting Luthor’s diversion in Metropolis, Clark is making every effort to isolate it to a relatively open space (the park). damages are at a minimum. but that takes time, it’s not efficient enough, so then the corporate-funded Justice Gang shows up - and oops, suddenly buildings are being swept off their foundations, civilians in direct line of fire, the city core is getting ripped apart. he’s scrambling to save children, squirrels, people caught in the red zone while the others are more interested in punching the big monster. the story makes it absolutely clear that corporations don’t care about life or harm reduction, and in a world in which superheroes are already normalized, this kindness is what sets Superman apart

Seasonal depression except it’s Australia, so I’m sad in the summer because the UV and Temperature is so high I can’t go outside at all for at least three months cause I’ll be getting heatstroke and sunburn within 2 seconds of being in the sun.

And I don’t want to clean or do anything even inside unless I have the aircon at 16° because otherwise I’ll start overheating from just walking around my house.

I was for years and years firmly in the camp of ‘non fiction is boring/stuffy/etc’ until literally last year when I started reading my old timey dog books. And having since run out of old timey dog books I’ve moved on to other topics including the lives and antics of bushrangers (and relatives of mine) and I just… real people are so dumb and I love it, and people were always dumb, including professional cattle thieves who kept day by day accounts of their crimes in a diary and then allowed the police to get ahold of it, ultimately ending up in a prison sentence.

If you ever think a criminal or thief character in a book is too audacious, lucky, or stupid I promise you they have nothing on what people were historically doing in real life

Saw something about Hua Cheng always being able to sense his ashes so he can always sense Xie Lian and I just think it adds a hilarious take to him giving Xie Lian his ashes. Like yes it’s a beautiful and romantic ghostly tradition but there is something so funny about him given them to him the moment he has to leave so he doesn’t lose him again after 800 years of searching like someone tagging a bird to track their migration habits. He is not taking no fucking chances.
