Y medals are so fancy and detailed and im just no good at that. It just felt like there wasnt a consistent style I could understand like the other medals. Of course theyre gorgeous medals, its more of a me problem

Hello everyone! I think it's time for me to actually introduce people to my YKW AU... the Soul-Corruption AU! Inspired by stories of werecreatures and spiritic possessions, me and a few of my friends came up with this new concept, which is Soul Corruption. When normal people come in contact with a Yo-kai, nothing too out of the ordinary should happen... but some people have a sort of condition that makes their own self more vulnerable to the energies of the Yo-kai, and not in the inspiriting sense (more akin to an immunodeficiency for the soul).

A soul-corrupted person will have their own soul slowly changed by Yo-kai until they become mentally and/or physically similar to the corruptor. The more corruption, the closer to the Yo-kai. The condition itself is genetic, but pretty rare. And in addition to that, to actually have effect the carrier must make an actual connection with a Yo-Kai (seeing them is just the basic). A carrier of the condition might spend their whole life without ever soul-corrupted.

Which is not the case for Nate and Katie, their fate was sealed as soon as they received their first medals. (yes, they're both watch holders in this AU)

Nate's initial corruption was due to Jibanyan's medal, slowly taking more of the latter's likings and habits (sudden cravings for chocovars, napping on a sunny spot, "nya" verbal tics, the intrusive thought of fist-fighting a truck, etc.) until one night where he transformed completely and went feral. He woke up much later in the morning, covered in chocobar wrappings.

Katie's initial corruption was instead Komasan's, with similar symptoms (gaining an accent was perhaps the first one) and ending up with robbing an every-mart from all their soft serve during a feral night.

More Yo-kai Watch oc stuff? Ota's first Yokai friend just so happens to be Komashura... (kinda, technically, it's complicated)

Yukari was out trying to test out the Yokai Watch she created with one of the Yokai Arks kept by the temple, but kept failing to summon one. On a mission of exorcising some dangerous spirits, Yukari met Anne and Ota caught in the attack. Needing extra help, she let Anne use the Yokai Watch to summon a Yokai, that Yokai on the Ark being Komashura. Though Anne is the only person with a Yokai Watch at first, Komashura's Yokai Ark is drawn to Ota so he is tasked with keeping it & it's considered his first Yokai friend. RIP the scared boy who wants to live a normal life without ghosts...

Just a guy and girl in high school who are forced to become a magical girl and the cute mascot respectively. Polar opposites who have to get used to the whole transforming thing and learn to work together to beat monsters and all that jazz :D
