I've seen a lot of people talking about what TCO's name at the end of S3 should be and I see so much potential in every single option so let me just break it down
1. The Chosen One - comes back to the OG name but with new experiences, probably the least popular option but I can see a way in which if they make a S4 it could work as another step in his journey of identity, not resolving all of his problems right in S3 is okay as long as they'd leave him with doubts about who he is, going back to it and thinking it's gonna be great just to get it and not like it actually, could be a good way of pushing him forward, I just like the idea of characters realising stuff like this when they're at their presumed highest, not lowest, but that would require a lot of insight into his thoughts on it, if it stays his final FINAL name though? I'm gonna be disappointed, my least favourite option for that
2. No One - I would personally like to have the No One thing resolved before S3 ends but I see potential either way, first thing is that I'm already suspicious of whether they're gonna make it an important pun, you know like "NO ONE CAN DEFEAT ME" being written into someone's code and BOOM there he is, overall I think that the name is a good plot device, it can be the first thing to really show him how little he really knows himself, you know? Everyone else has something of their own, if you take Vic/H4ck3r's name, there's still his intelligence and his people, if you take TDL's name, there's still technological skills, if you take TSC's name, there's still the creativity, but TCO? Who is he if not The Chosen One? What's left of him without his powers and constant fighting? Just suffering? Or is there more to it? Being No One is a good impermanent stage and I can get behind it staying for possible S4 if they make it a step in his journey, I'm not a fan of No One being his final name, I get that people say it gives him freedom and absolutely zero expectations but it also gives him no meaning, he can have no expectations placed on him without it also degrading his self esteem and value in the world
3. Someone - one of the most popular original choices, I feel like it can work both as a step and as a final name, as a step it could be right after No One, because if he's NO ONE, that means he used to be SOMEONE and going to just being Someone could work well as a way of showing us that he's looking for it, he's looking for that Someone that he is, he's just not sure yet, as a final name it could work because of him finally accepting complexity, being The Chosen One inherently makes him "the good guy" and he tried to go against it in an act of "gaining his freedom" by becoming "the bad guy", No One rids him of that thinking but it also puts him in a position where it looks like if he doesn't pick a side, he doesn't matter at all, Someone allows him to have a choice and complexity in his personality, it allows him to fully be a person, I feel like the only possible issue with it is that it sounds kinda, mysterious (?) I would say (???), and it could be a marker of uncertainty, but not necessarily
4. Choose - less popular but still has it's fans, I have similar feelings about it as I have towards Someone, imo it can work both as a step and a final name, as a step I would say if I'm already making the timeline, I would put it after Someone, it's the point where he has the data of who he thinks he is and now he needs to make the choice, as a final name it works well because once again it allows him the flexibility, it's literally Choose, it's letting him Choose who he is, what his legacy is, who he wants to be at the given moment, there is no need to conform to one role, my only issue with this one is that it could give both him AND others the choice about HIM, it's a word meant to tell YOU to do something, but the "you" in those situations could be very different
5. Choice - people usually put it in the same category as Choose, it's often even treated as the same name, but for me it's very different, first of all, I can't imagine it working well as a step, if he gets it, I think it should stay, I like it exactly because of that, because it's already done, the Choice is something that has already been made, and yet it still allows him the flexibility, because HE is the choice, he chose HIMSELF and he can make that Choice again whenever he wants, but it's not your Choice to make, it's just a Choice, and it had been done, ended, also I feel like it could be a great, even if small, parallel to the freedom guy, freedom and Choice are so tangled with each other so much one can't exist without the other, it brings him closer to what he always wanted but it also doesn't make him an exact copy of the freedom guy
6. Human name (ex. Charlie, Carol, etc.) - I haven't seen this being discussed as an option AT ALL but with all the people discussing Victor as a potential new name for Victim, it got me thinking about doing the same for Cho, I see the vision of giving them all human names as something so interesting but also hard to predict how would it go, I wonder if they would still try to fit the names in the sense of their etymology or perhaps trying to act like other people who have the names? It could work as just a switch to normalcy but I prefer em more complicated y'know? Also if they got last names too, I need Cho and Vic to have the same one and it's actually not backed by canon because Alan only mentioned seeing Cho and Second as brothers but idc, I want these two to have a brotherly bond and go through their trauma from Noogai together and I want Chosen to stay with rocket corp (after a lot of work since he was also really hurt there) because I feel like it could be a more fitting environment for him than the colour gang, srry
Have y'all noticed I like TCO btw?
