hannibal should have noticed how bad he had it in season 2 when he literally gave up his identity as the ripper in order to get will back. at the time it’s obscured by all his clever maneuvering, but pulling the trigger on miriam lass (so that she can pull it, in turn, literally, on chilton) means no more ripper and no more ripper kills, something that’s been a pretty huge piece of hannibal’s identity and life up to this point, even if he does kill in other ways. and he doesn’t hesitate! for someone who hates denying himself as much as hannibal does, it should be a major decision but he barely thinks about it! his whole focus is getting will back!
