New Muse song, new hot takes.

Won’t Stand Down…

It’s kind of a hot mess. I’m sorry. The heaviness is cool, but the intro and verses just do not gel with the rest of the song at all. The first seconds of a song should prepare you for what’s coming, and this doesn’t accomplish that at all. The guitar riff comes out of nowhere. The chorus is good and musey at its core, but it’s a similar case to Thought Contagion. Solid musical foundation, but they ruined it by trying to cram in contemporary radio tropes when they just do not belong. Here, it’s not as evident in the chorus as it is in the verses. The triplet flow with Bellamy falsetto is a cute idea on paper, but I think it sounds silly in the context of this track. There are just too many jarring genre elements to create a cohesive experience for me. The sections feel totally disconnected from one another, so this song doesn’t take me on any kind of journey. It just happens. I’ll still throw down to the riff, but I expected better. 5/10

Yo everyone, I’m still alive. Hoorayyyy. But I’m bored af, as we all have been during these strange times. 

Back in the day I used to sometimes stream and play cards against humanity and stuff with you guys, and now seems like the perfect time to bring that back.
