About one whole year after I made an initial list on Tumblr, I decided I needed to make an updated, better organized one. To be quite honest with you, the state of film recs for Indian cinema on this site is uhh disappointing, to put it politely, and while I can’t claim to be a connoisseur or an expert of any sort, I feel that the list I’ve ended up with is a bit more balanced and represents the range of Indian films better (as opposed to ‘here’s ten Bollywood films that go back as far as the ancient 90s and five of them were directed by Karan Johar’). I also took the liberty of putting together some resources for newcomers to learn about Indian cinema…because y’all are really goddamn ignorant.
