honestly i try not to hate on any driver because at the end of the day most of them are rich white men that say controversial things and hang out with controversial people but i just lost what little of my sanity i had left at that so have some of my opinions no one asked for
no one “deserves” a championship, you have to earn it. whether norris has truly earned it idk that’s up to every individual to decide, but because mcl has screwed over their drivers (especially oscar) so many times it’s really only normal for fans to start questioning whether there was a bias in the team. if a team’s branding is being completely equal and allowing both drivers to race freely but asks a driver to swap positions with the other because of a slow stop despite previously agreeing that it was a part of racing (monza ‘25), brushes off the driver’s complaints about his teammate knocking into him despite multiple “reminders” of “this is how we go racing” (singapore ‘25), attempts to weasel their way out of a double dsq but accepts all penalties for a certain driver without attempting to appeal (las vegas ‘25 and namely sliverstone ‘25), asking his teammate while he himself was the championship leader when to pit them (monza ‘25 and singapore ‘25) of course viewers and fans would find it off putting because why are you marketing yourself as fair and unbiased when you’re not. the thing is i feel that if they went into the season saying they were giving norris their full backing, there would be significantly lesser hate from the fans because at least they’re being honest. with them going in and saying that they’re being unbiased when it looks like they’re favouring a driver (to the op81 fans they’re favouring ln4 and vice versa tho personally i think it smells a little like british bias but what do i know) obviously the fans are going to start hating on you and most likely the driver they think you’re favouring and it’s your fault.
i honestly hate zak brown so much it’s not funny anymore, like previously i didn’t care as much because i was too busy grimacing every time christian horner came on my screen, but now that he’s gone (and hopefully for good!) zak brown no longer has that ragebaiting horner thing going for him to help me ignore everything else about that man. honestly wdym he had shares in norris’s business up till like mid this year, wouldn’t that mean he profits more if norris won than if oscar won? he was so insistent on keeping things fair that he would apparently rather max win than favour a driver (i say apparently because suddenly during media day he talks about maybe pulling team orders because he would like to win)
anyways even if we disregard all that, i dreaded the idea of norris winning because some (keyword SOME) of his fans will start riding his dick and saying he’s like the best ever driver to grace the sport and that he’s better than verstappen or whoever like don’t pmo stfu and sit down i can name 34 better wdcs than him sorry not sorry
and istg if any funny person comes and talks about landoscar divorce or something i will jump you does it look like oscar hates norris so everyone that compares landoscar to brocedes please get away from me they’re perfectly fine stop hallucinating a divorce thank you. like yes oscar’s smile on the podium did not reach his eyes he is definitely not happy but he congratulated norris, i’d argue if he does have a villain arc that it’d be directed at mclaren and not norris
honestly if you asked me who i think should’ve won, i would say max verstappen a hundred times over. yes, i’m a verstappie so maybe i am biased, yes, i’ve agreed with every single “if it’s not dutch let it be aussie” post, yes, i dislike norris, but max was genuinely the best driver on the grid the entire year. he closed a 104 point gap to oscar piastri, which were objectively the dominant car, got a grand slam (baku ‘25) before this year’s wdc did in a subpar car, holds the most pole positions and wins for this season, and stayed in the championship fight all the way to the end despite mclaren having a car so dominant they won it all the way back in singapore. if anything, this season proved that max really is at least top 5, and maybe arguably even top 3 aot.
ending it off positively, here’s 10 things i hope this season will be remembered for (instead of norris wdc) (i think i died a little typing that i’m gg to censor his name from now on):
1. nico hulkenberg’s sliverstone podium after 239 race starts without a podium
2. kimi antonelli getting 3 podiums in his rookie season
3. isack hadjar getting a podium with vcarb in zandvoort
4. max verstappen’s insane comeback from a 104 point deficit to only losing the championship at the last race by 2 points
5. george russell finally winning the singapore grand prix
6. carlos sainz getting 2 podiums + 1 sprint podium with williams
7. oscar piastri getting back into the australian grand prix and scoring points and dominating till the tail end of the season
8. max verstappen pit lane —> podium driver in the brazilian grand prix
9. nico rosberg dropping more brocedes lore during the red flag before the spa gp started
10. mclaren almost fumbling the wdc despite having the most dominant car
sorry for the shit writing i’m sleep deprived as shit and i’m writing off emotions said rich white men (and few others) do not care that i’m feeling✌️
