Sskk lyrics analysis! With the song This Love :-)
This song absolutely screams sskk so I thought it'd be fun to share some points on how the lyrics match up well with their relationship
"Clear blue water, hide tide came and brought you in," - this beginning reminds me of their fight against Fukuchi, on a boat, and how Akutagawa came at the call of the emergency flare to fight by Atsushi's side (and save him)
"Skies grew darker, currents swept you out again, and you were just gone and gone, gone and gone," - I could very well see this as the ending to the fight; with Akutagawa dying and Atsushi thinking he's gone forever
"This love is good, this love is bad, this love is alive back from the dead," - this lyric is so sskk coded I want to throw something; ‘this love is good’ fitting how they heal each other and work together so well, absolute soulmates, ‘this love is bad’ fitting their own self hatred and the circumstances of their relationship overall and the moral conflict both of them face, ‘this love is alive back from the dead’ fitting the fact that BOTH of them are literally alive, and back from the dead, and now they're inseparable (so far, anyway)
"In losing grip, on sinking ships, you showed up just in time," - this. This fucking lyric. It's actually just Atsushi's pov in a lyric during the fight against Fukuchi; him losing grip of his confidence from the terrifying feeling of going up against Fukuchi alone, on a ship with a damaged engine room, and then Akutagawa showed up just in time
"This love came back to me, oh, oh, oh, this love left a permanent mark," - the ‘came back’ is fitting with both of their returns from the (sort of in Atsushi's case) dead, and the permanent mark part fits two things in my head, I know it's not canon but I think everyone agrees Akutagawa at the very least s h o u l d have a scar across his neck, a permanent mark of his sacrifice. And secondly, you could also apply it to how they're both permanent marks on each other's lives, irrefutable influences of learning to move on from the past and growing stronger
"Your kiss, my cheek, I watched you leave," - okay for the most part it's just the ‘I watched you leave’ lyric I wanted to note since Atsushi watched Akutagawa die and vice versa. It's so them
"Your smile, my ghost, I fell to my knees" - a smile, you say?
Man, who could've smiled right before he died and told someone "away with you, you fool," and then was involuntarily turned into a vampire..
(Forever mad over the fact that Bones cut out his smile also 😒)
And I know that Taylor's intention with this song is a story about a young love that broke up but then got back together years later, but also fits just so, so extremely well with sskk in my eyes
(Also it's not the best analysis since most of this song is repeated lyrics lmfao)
