Dr. Phil Ain't Got Shit on Me
Last post was literally three years ago and reading that post makes me realize how simple life was back then...I apparently created a new account and I have no clue what/where that account is. I gave birth to my beautiful daughter December 2023; it seriously was the third happiest day of my life, third to the adoption of our daughter and the birth of our first biological daughter. I seriously had no CLUE how much life would change over the next six months.
April 28, 2024, my dad was diagnosed with brain/lung/esphogeal cancer after a trip to the ER for what we thought was just a virus. Four very short weeks later, I woke up in a room in Hospice to find his lifeless body. Two weeks after losing my father, we gained custody of my husbands two nephews, aged 7 and 11 - now giving me 5 kids. A month later, my mom and step dad contract COVID. December 2023, three days after having to put our three year old, perfectly healthy (or so we thought) family dog to sleep and six months after losing my father, I got the blood curdling call from my mother that she had found my step father passed away in bed.
February 2024, I move my Mom across the country back home. Three weeks later, she is diagnosed with lung cancer in the same emergency room that my father was diagnosed in almost one year prior. April 2024, I have a three disc replacement in my cervical spine. Two days after my surgery, my nephew is admitted into a psychiatric hospital resulting in a one week stay six hours away from our home.....Needless to say, the last few years have been absolute hell.
My Mom underwent chemo and radiation from March-July 2024. The radiation fried her esophagus, causing her to be unable to eat. She dropped from 150 lbs down to 82. She had a feeding tube installed in her stomach and she was thankfully able to bounce back to 105 lbs in a few months. We never heard the words "remission," but all of her scans up until last month showed no growth or movement of cancer throughout her body....last month, a new lesion appeared on her other lung.
Today we are at the hospital so that she can have the spot biopsied. There has been so much more going on and I keep telling myself, "write, you need to write" but it wasn't until today that I could bring myself to do it. I've got so much more to share, the good, the bad, the absolutely fucking ugly.
Life has been life'n ya'll. Dr. Phil nor Jerry Springer have shit on this mess I call life.
