I’ve been thinking a lot about goals for 2017. My goal is not “to be happy.”

My goal is to be fierce in the pursuit of the things I want most with every ounce of effort I have, and my goal is to be just as kind as I am fierce.

My goal is to forgive both others and myself for mistakes of the past.

My goal is to be unapologetically and authentically myself, and to embrace that “myself” is a fluid and ever-changing concept.

My goal is to appreciate the moments of success, of love, of laughter, no matter how small or insignificant they seem in the greater context of my life.

I feel like happiness doesn’t need to be a goal because it’s a byproduct of the other things I will fill my 2017 with. I’m ready for ya, 2017.
