finally ran at my first outdoor ncaa west regionals meet in the 1500 & 5K (my coach hates that we call it regionals because it’s really the first round of the NCAA Championships but anyways yeah finally did that). I didn’t make it to the final in the 1500m but I sure did go for it and then just fell flat the last 300m. 5K I went for it again and went out way faster than I thought I could. Around 10:08 through the 2 mile and then died a hard death in no mans land yet still came away with a 13 second PR of 16:14. ‘Twas a bittersweet feeling crossing that line. I should of died to 78/79s maybe an 80 like my coach said but instead I ran 83,83,82, 81, 74 for my last 5 laps. I didn’t punch my ticket to my first outdoor NCAAs Championship but I did PR and this long season was over. I really wanted sub 16 cause I know I can do it. But this just makes me so excited for this next track season. I’m going to break 16 mins but not only that, I’m going to demolish 16 minutes and run as close to the school record of 15:12 as I can. Just speaking it into existence. My coach reminded me that I need to aim high. Set lofty goals. But really they shouldn’t be that lofty because I’m talented and I work hard and I have a coach that can get me there. but before I can get there... the goal is to have a great final season of cross country.
