Why is Storyboarder free?

Storyboarder is niche software. The market is tiny. There’s an inverse relationship between the market size and price we have to charge to make money. We are building this tool for ourselves to make better movies. We make money making movies, not software. We believe creative software should be free. Let’s be completely real – I’ve never known anyone working on dope ass shit to be paying for the software they use anyways.

Storyboard Pro - Shitty software that costs $1000? Boords and other online software that just allows you to order images and costs a monthly fee?

Fuck those guys.

And fuck Sony Pictures. They make the worst fucking movies. What does that have to do with free software? Not much. Maybe use free software to make great movies and don’t waste money going to a Sony movie? Fuck.

And fuck Dave Morin. And Gary Vaynerchuk. Ugh.

langar is such an important concept personally and politically. like the entirety of the money used for the food comes from donations from the sangat and all of the cooking, cleaning, preparation, and distribution is just done by volunteers. you cannot under any circumstances turn someone away due to race, caste or faith and i get really emotional when i think about it sometimes because i’d argue the langar hall is my favourite place in every gurdwara, hands down. 

historically it’s been such an important support system for people living in poverty and for immigrants (especially in places like north america and europe) because at least if you found a gurdwara you knew you had a meal.

queer teeth was an illustrated zine i put out last year for the toronto queer zine fair. it was pretty private and there were only ever ten copies printed. i’m going to be revamping it alongside quiet/creeping/dead this summer, but i’m considering starting a sideblog for more personal stories since i think the audience on this one may be too widespread and varied for the more true-to-life work i put out.
