Imagine Yuugi taking care of his mama when she’s sick with some sort of bug.

"Mama, I'm going out with Joey later today. Do you need me to pick anything up while I'm out?"

She looks up from the book she’d been reading and smiles at her boy. She then hums after a moment, thinking of anything she might need while he was out. “Please be careful, baby.” She murmurs after a moment. “If you could bring home some milk, that’d be wonderful. I noticed there was none when I went to get some cereal this morning.” She had meant to make breakfast this morning but woke up so tired and zoned out that she just hadn’t felt up to it. “Thank you so much, sweetheart.”

He gave a little shy smile towards her as he was trying to play off his pain. “Mama, I’m fine I promise-” And as if on cue, Yuugi felt a cough erupting from him. His arm lifting up to cover his mouth, getting his mouth against the inside of his arm. Now he definitely felt like that had hurt and he groaned a little as he frowned.

“I wanted to go see my friends today..but, I don’t want them to get a cold if I have it..I don’t want you to get it either mama..” He told her as he sighed softly and reluctantly put down his backpack where he normally kept it when he went to bed so that he could grab it on the go. “Mama..can you call the school? I don’t think I can do it. I don’t feel so good..”

The moment he began coughing, she was moving her hand up to rub his back through it. Those were some hard coughs he was hacking out there and she felt horrible for her baby boy. Those coughs sounded painful and she knew that they definitely had been when she heard that groan of his. She continues rubbing his back even when he is finished coughing, just to try and help ease any pain he might have from all that coughing.

“You can see them when you get better, or video call them? They’ll understand, baby. Your friends are so understanding.” She gives him a soft smile and runs a hand through his wild hair. “I’ll be alright if I get it, sweetpea. Mama has gotten all of your sicknesses before and it hasn’t hurt me yet, what’s one more gonna do?” She would gladly take any sickness of his onto herself to keep him from having to live with it. “Of course I can call the school.” She knew he wouldn’t really feel up to it anyways. “Let’s get you laying back down first, you need lots of rest.”

He was a good boy deep down, she knew this in her heart. He also seemed very troubled at times and she tried to understand his ways. She gave all the motherly love she could give to him and always tried to understand the things he does, trying to see the light at the end of the tunnel with him. A soft sigh falls past her lips and she runs a hand through her hair, eyes scan over his face, taking in the bruise and then she is shaking her head, a knowing smile tugging at her lips. She is a mother, she knows his words are not completely true, she’d be a horrible mother not to see through them.

“What am I going to do with you?” Her words are soft and gentle and her eyes never once leave his form. “That isn’t the whole truth, is it? You can tell me everything, you know I am always on your side.”
