Cindy wanted to be more annoyed with the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, but she knew Bobbi didn’t personally organize Pleasant Hill, or even contribute to the group being sucked in, but it was still hard to not hold any resentment at all. “Hey, you said it, not me.” She grumbled, pausing to take a deep breath as she looked back up at Bobbi. “They’re lucky more people didn’t end up dying that day.”

“that’s where their luck is going to run out. people aren’t willing to cut them any more slack after everything that’s happened.” they didn’t deserve it, either. S.H.I.E.L.D. was wrong. bobbi wouldn’t pretend otherwise. “i guess we count our blessing here.”

“I wonder what other kind of reality versions of me exist.” Daisy commented curiously, pausing as she looked up at Bobbi and tilted her head. “The you from this reality is really cool, at least. She’s probably shacked up with Lance somewhere right now.” She smiled fondly at the memories of her old team, back before things went to shit. She missed her Bobbi of course, but it was nice to be forming a relationship with another one. Even if it was under less than ideal circumstances. She frowned as Bobbi continued to talk and shook her head softly. “I don’t blame you. I’m sure it saved them a lot of danger, you doing that. But it couldn’t have been easy.”

“same. i’m sure there’s someone we could ask, but i’m almost afraid to know about how bad it could get.” which was interesting, because bobbi was at a place where not much frightened her. bobbi couldn’t help but laugh. “lance hunter? here too? i guess i never learn.” lance was a good person. bobbi cared about him deeply. he was different from clint and that was a good thing at times. it had been a long time since the stuff with her parents had gone down. it wasn’t always on bobbi’s mind, but when it was it bothered her. “my mom and my brother live in the same area that i grew up in. they didn’t even know i worked with S.H.I.E.L.D. after i got my phd i pulled back.” rolling her shoulders back, the agent wiped the sadness off of her face. “we don’t have to talk about that. what a drag.”

Cindy resisted the urge to tug down her mask and reveal her (new) face. It was all still very overwhelming and she didn’t know where to begin. “Almost overnight, actually.”

“same thing with belova. barton and bishop seem to be more overtime. i’m not sure if there’s  a pattern there. i realize this isn’t helpful to you.”

Cassie heard what Bobbi was asking her. She understood, but her brain wasn’t exactly letting her process it. The idea of possibly losing her dad, again… She couldn’t. She wouldn’t. “Is that possible? Has… has it been happening to a lot of people? He’s gonna be okay, right? I-I think he’s been fine.”

“a decent amount.” bobbi confirmed. “it’s those who had extended contact with pleasant hill. the rift is then acting like an infection and spreading to others who are in constant, close proximity with them. i’m guessing that includes you.”

“by all means.” bobbi stepped aside to let daisy through. “if you’ve got a minute, i can make a pot of coffee.”

“i didn’t handle the arrests or make the list of who to pick up.” bobbi shook her head. “but you’re right. i’m sorry i didn’t remember.”

I would be too after the mess S.H.I.E.L.D. made for themselves.” Medusa mused, smiling smugly at Bobbi as she listened to the agent before nodding her head slowly. “And what if I told you that we have a new Inhuman who has joined us who can do just that? Stop bullshit before it happens.”

if only the queen were a slightly more pleasant and less smug person. they could have had a great time. “i’d say it sounds dangerous but i want to know more. hypothetically, how long has this inhuman been around? not that long, i’m guessing, or they would have called pleasant hill.”

“I’m just making sure you don’t forget how shitty it was.” Gabby shrugged, feeling like that was all she could do in this situation. She would be a lot more heated had Laura come out reality warped, but thankfully her sister seemed fine. “She has a way of bringing attention back onto herself.”

“i’m never going to forgive myself if you keep doing that, but okay.” bobbi crossed her arms over her chest. “maybe it’s the corset and cape.”

Clint simply deadpanned the blonde when she tried to say she was never tense, both of them knowing that was a flat out lie. But then she continued and the hypothetical sounded more like it. “I don’t know if there is getting out of it anymore, Bobbi. Just…. moving forward.” It was definitely a rough adjustment, but Clint was having a hard time even remembering what things were like before Pleasant Hill. Other than Natasha being pregnant, everything seemed in his mind the way things should be. “Dwelling on it isn’t going to change anything. I hate to say it, but I think all of this multiverse stuff is out of our paygrades.” 

“moving into the unknown? i hate that. you know what that means, right?” the blonde shook her head as she moved past him and sat down, legs tucked underneath her. “you have a whole wife. a wife and kids. you and i -- we never happened.” the fact that his wife -- linda -- had the agent nineteen alias made bobbi uncomfortable. did that mean she was just losing her ex-husband to another version of herself? “you’re right, i guess. we just enjoy what we have and wait for it to change completely.”

“They asked me to assist on some research,” Jemma said. “Fitz might be joining, he’s still thinking about it. But honestly I don’t think I could have turned it down without regretting it one way or another.”

“with reed and sue? i know that they’re spearheading the multiverse venture.” it would be good to see fitz as well, but bobbi had been increasingly fuzzy on just how she had met the pair. it had to be a side effect as she slid into her new reality. “well, it would be good to see you both before everything falls to absolute shit.”

“I’m sure everyone will get over it eventually,” Cassie pointed out, frowning when she heard that S.H.I.E.L.D. was having a hard time moving on. She didn’t blame the public for being upset with the organization. Sure, they had done a lot of good, but Pleasant Hill was so far on the bad side of the spectrum that it was going to take some time to get past this. And an insane PR team. “He’s fine, I think. He said he has an interview with you guys coming up.. Should I be worried about that?”

“Worried? Only if he hasn’t been himself. Has he taken on any new personality traits? Have new memories? Lose some of his own? That’s what they’re asking for right now. It’s to make sure he’s not multiversally compromised.”

You were directly involved with the abduction of two mutants, one of them my sister, into some kind of psycho make-believe town.” Gabby pointed out, not wanting Bobbi to try and shift any of that responsibility before she paused and nodded at the next comment. “It’s gonna be a great time.”

“Yes, thank you. I’m very aware. Kids. Gotta love ‘em, right?” Bobbi scoffed. “I know it’s personal for you, and I’m sorry. I read the interview and I’m glad Laura is fine. It’s a messy situation.” To say the fucking least. “I never thought Emma Frost would get popular again.”
