Peacemaker by Astolat: long one-shot, but it has Optimus defying orders for the greater good so :). tfa, also post-canon.
Ninth by Kyn: is a longfic with some potentially disturbing body horror, slavery, and megop is only one of the many facets of it but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. It is one of my favorite fics OF ALL TIME. and considering how much I read fanfic that is a great honor. I also advise care on this one. Continuity soup of the most delicious kind.

Optimus Prime is Destined to Die!! by Chuzillla: SOOOO good!! It has mystery elements and, best of all, isekai. I would shout many more positive things about it if they weren't all spoilers. continuity soup, I believe, it's a royalty au.
Antiak Spaceport Cafe by Land_Locked_Martian: really funny, can't count how many times i've read it. tfa barista au.
Duobus by Cyndi: I really liked it, it's like this post-apoctalyptic thing where only the two of them survive. Armada.
Of Gutters and Galaxies by iliterallydecepticanteven: decepticon/autobot alliance my one true love. tfa. I'm only just now noticing how many of these are tfa.
Thus Spoke Quintus Prime by Anonymous: super funny, crack treated seriously. need I say more? Earthspark.

honestly, having flexibility in your headcanons is such an important skill to develop as a fandom participant. like, it's great to have strong opinions of your own, but don't you want to hear what strong opinions others hold? Angels Before Man by rafael nicolas Queer retelling of the fall of satan with the most beautiful prose you will ever read.
The Church of the Mountain of Flesh by Kyle Wakefield Trans man being weird and doing some fucked shit, and the prose?? so good
Providence Girls by Morgan Dante Sapphic seaside horror romance with, you guessed it, absolute stunning prose
If you haven't read them, you're definitely missing out! (Check the CW's before though)

truly NO ONE is doing it like chromedome and rewind. they have 2-7 divorces between them depending on how you count it. they were the first canonically gay transformers. they met at a suicide clinic. they cant stop watching each other die. their love language is killing themselves. they are doomed in every timeline. theyre probably the most functional couple on the lost light.

To give credit where credit is due, the human designs are almost entirely based on WeirdHawk's Human!Tarn (which was adapted by Utane for Benz here) and Hecknugg's Human!Pharma because I'm obsessed.
The only "original" part of the human designs are the twins.
Echo and Encore were created by @mxbenz and I for an RP and later were pulled into my Mad Max AU (Note: you need an AO3 account to access).
