PLEASE oh my god I am SICK and TIRED of people just leaving likes on my fics. That. Says. Nothing. It says fuck-all about if you liked it, if you hated it, if there was something you found funny, I don’t even fucking know if you read it! I literally asked that people reblog and I still get notifications that people are just liking. I have every single one of y’all’s URLs. When I see someone likes my stuff it’s like a big giant slap in the face, like “hey author you specifically said reblogs are much much better than likes and you feed off of them but haha nope i’m feeling like a dick today so i’m just gonna fuckin like instead” and it is FRUSTRATING. So fucking frustrating. Support your authors. Reblog shit.
And maybe you can’t, for whatever reason. Tell the author you liked it, then! Send asks! Leave a comment! We just want to know that people read our fics and enjoyed them. I cannot stress how infuriating it is to get likes. We SEE you reading our shit and not doing a damn thing to show if you liked it. We SEE you leaving kudos and blatantly ignoring the “please leave comments I am BEGGING YOU” and we’re not exaggerating when we say that. I’m sick of it. Books with 1.2k reads getting ten fucking comments. Especially when we ask for comments. We put hours into our work. Comments take two minutes at most. Do you have any idea how disheartening it is to see that? When people fucking like your work?
Honestly. Comments are our lifeblood. A lot of authors say this and we’re not joking. They make my day, quite literally. You don’t even have to say much! Just a keysmash will do! An “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA”! Anything!

I PROCRASTINATED FOR YOU. NO, NO, SERIOUSLY. I SHOULD BE WORKING RIGHT NOW, BUT IT’S TAKEN ME DAYS TO WRITE THIS ONESHOT/CHAPTER, AND I WANT TO WORK ON IT MORE SO THAT I CAN POST IT FOR YOU.
I see comments and it feels worth it. When I see that someone had such a violent reaction - throwing their phone across the room - to my writing, that makes me feel like I did a good job. Or when I wrote that funny line, and people told me they laughed, I get excited. I see comments about my work and I feel like my writing is actually worth something. All the time I spent sitting in front of a screen, typing on my keyboard, it feels like I did it for a good reason.
So, please. COMMENT. It makes us writers feel so good about our work.
