a tail of two souls.
( ... )
Such a peaceful scene had, moments ago, seemed almost perfect, but now only held chilling connotations. The sky was no longer pretty, now it was suffocating like a dark blanket held right over Woohyun’s head, the water a sickening temptation to just push himself further and work harder to get back to safety.
He was doomed.
But as the man started talking and throwing some piece of fabric over Woohyun he simply stared, confused and still utterly terrified. Maybe if he replied to the questions he’d be okay - maybe the man didn’t want to kill him, maybe he wasn’t a hunter.
“I-I … You’re not going to kill me?”
Something inside him felt for the boy in front of him; he could understand the fear he felt – after all, human’s were dangerous to them. “I’m not – I mean, I’m a Merman too.” He explained quickly, “I was just covering your tail so not to cause attention….um, please don’t be afraid.”
He leaned back suddenly, realising he was a little too close to the other. Sitting back on his heels, Sunggyu clasped his hands in from of him and waited for the other to calm down and take notice to Sunggyu’s words and realize the truth behind them.
The air is still as sweet as before, and the night is still calm – despite the situation he was in now; the night was still rather peaceful. He thinks to himself maybe the merman will calm down soon and enjoy this peaceful night with him. It’s been a long time since he’s seen another … other than his parents of course. He could ask this boy questions about under the sea; about life there and what has changed and what hasn’t.
