--- It’s easy to avoid unwanted attention and idle chit-chat when you can make yourself invisible in plain sight; such a thing was one of Deimos’ many skills. Seems things were continuing to drag on. No-one would miss him if he slipped out of the crowded room and headed back to his dorm.
....maybe then he could be at ease for a while.
who messed you up so badly that you cringe when someone says “I love you”?

For as lacking as Cain’s people skills inevitably were, more often than not he could sense when something was different, when something so easily recognisable was clear. He had seen this light flush before and had never particularly thought about it, pushed it to the back of his mind in order to focus on what he believed were far more important things. However, it was happening again and curiosity ran through him within an instant. For as crass, brusque and often as violent as he was, the dark haired fighter wasn’t stupid.
Smirk tugging at the corners of his lips, as if it was a natural occurrence (and some may have argued that it was), Cain continued to keep his obsidian hues trained on his companion. Keeping harsh eye contact with the other male, or anyone for that matter, wasn’t something that Cain particularly had any trouble with in the slightest.
The fighter indeed was in a rare good mood, the past few days had offered a welcome reprieve as everything had gone smoothly, his own top dog status not being challenged never failed to improve his often volatile mood. Simple luxuries were often sparse so he had learnt to take the good days without question and react within an instant when something went wrong or was not to his liking.
“Tch, the fuck are you blushing for myshonok? Come on, spit it out if you’re gonna talk some more.” Cain chided, unable to stop himself from succumbing to the urge to tease. Personal boundaries were not something that the fighter had a particularly good concept of, often blurting out exactly what was on his mind at the time without even considering the possible consequences. This had inevitably gotten into trouble more times than he could even count in the past, Cain was more of a react now and think later kind of guy and if anyone had a problem with that he wouldn’t hesitate in showing them just how wrong they were.
His expression only worsened. At times like this, Cain would have dismissed their meeting by now and Deimos would not need to worry himself with how he would feel or react with Cain out of arms reach. He supposed it was rather pathetic to constantly crumble and kneel at Cain’s mercy like this. And Cain never seemed to catch on with these small blushes and uncharacteristic tendencies Deimos was flawed with, which inevitably made things more difficult for Deimos to simply raise his head, nod and walk away before his stupid, stupid desires got the best of him.
How many times had he thrown himself at Cain out of the blue, only to be rejected? And this was not metaphorical when it came to actually throwing himself at the other Fighter. It was starting to get ridiculous, and he knew it. Which was precisely why he continued to remain silent and train his eyes to the ground between them instead of walk away. Cain would be smirking by now. Deimos knew that much without even having to raise his head.
It was nice to see Cain in a good mood. Such times were a rarity and they were to be savoured until something slipped; until something went so wrong that their progress would reel back to the beginning and Deimos would have to assist on making Cain’s mood better again before they could patch up the holes in their plot. He'd done it before, he could do it again if the time came.
The teasing had been something Deimos had expected. He was prepared to drink in whatever Cain threw at him and had learnt to deal with the other Fighter’s reckless behaviour over their time together. Sure, it hadn’t been the easiest of tasks to manage but Cain just interested Deimos. And quite frankly, Deimos was the type of person to grow rather bored quickly when it came to people. He swallowed thickly, taking a step closer to Cain as a way to announce he was about to offer a reply. He had to whisper it. Had to invade Cain’s personal space so he could hear what he wanted to say. Once more, his hands were at Cain’s shoulders and he breathed against the taller Fighter’s ear. “...You like your Navigator a lot, don’t you.”
Adrian was surprised to say the least when someone sat across from him. He’d been n the midst of scrolling through the campus website in search of a roommate, half chewing on the end of a pencil. Bright blue hues peeked up from over the laptop at the decently looking fellow across from him. Okay more than decent, he was highly attractive, but staring at boys was not what Adrian was in college for.
Quickly looking back down at his laptop he pulled out the pencil he had been chewing up and set it in his lap, teeth mulling at his lip as he thought over his words carefully.
“—- So..”
A hand rakes through light hair as he peeks over once again, offering a small smile
“I don’t suppose you’re looking for a roommate are you?”
The silence (save for the loud-mouthed, sharp-tounged students around them, as well as the clatter of trays and claps and stirs that made up college life) had been comfortable to a certain extent. Alecks paid only half a mind to the guy sitting across from him after he’d dropped his own gaze to stare down at the phone he held under the table in the palm of his hands. He wouldn’t be lying if he said he thought the guy was cute. Because he was really cute- but good looks never matched up to an all great personality.
Then the silence broke.
“Me?” Aleks practically blurted, flexing his forefinger towards his own chest with a dumbfound expression. Never before had this kind of inquiry been asked in such a casual manner and he was close to turning down the other with a cheap action with taking his leave from the table- but, with that smile the other student wore and the odd sense of calm that came with it, Alecks remained seated and averted his gaze back down to his phone --having never been good at the whole socialising thing-- and parted his lips to reply.
“...I am.”
I’m the worst kind of monster:
The kind that comes with a pretty face
A cold heart
And a reason to be that way.
✰>> Elijah felt bad for startling the other… But he had tried to get the others attention a few times! Then again, the teen didn’t have much of a presence when he wasn’t actively talking.
He scratched the back of his neck nervously and smiled a little, waving his freehand in dismissal. “It’s alright! I just didn’t wanna touch you– People ‘round here sometimes react badly to being startled AND touched without permission.”
He himself was one of those people, to be quite honest.
He rummaged around in the bag at his hip as he started talking once more, finally withdrawing a thick envelope.
“Anyway, the old man at the music store asked me to drop this off for you?”
A common occurrence; Elijah’s playing ‘messenger boy’.
Alecks could hardly blame anyone other than himself for letting his guard drop so low that he had jumped in his own seat. The day had been relaxing and not much had been taking place so his choice in delving into a state of calm was a good one at first- now he realised how skittish he could be and did his best to hide his minor embarrassment behind the smallest of smiles while the other male spoke.
He mentally nodded in agreement- people around here were like that and had good reason to be. Personally, Alecks would prefer to be spooked rather than touched without permission. Leaning back in his chair, he allowed his headphones to hang uselessly over the neck of his hoodie and watched as an envelope was fished out and handed to him on behalf of the other male.
“...Ah-!” He sat upright once again and reached for the paper sealing. “Yeah, thanks...”
He tucked the envelope away, knowing he’d only get in trouble if he opened it up on his own. When it came to ‘business’ he was always advised to have his partner around- no matter what.
“I...- we appreciate it.”
“everyone i’ve ever cared for has either died or left me.” angst me up scotty B))

— It took a matter of moments for the words to process in Deimos’ head. Staring over at the taller male, he had been expecting some kind of lighter remark. That was Ethos’ way, after all. He was like the silver lining to every cloud; the spark of light in the darkest of rooms. A bright star in the dark, dreary sky. But when he spoke of this. Something that could be considered negative. Well- Deimos was at a loss for words; even more so than usual.
A gentle brush of his bony fingers along Ethos’ arm was Deimos’ poor excuse to offering reassurance. He could rightly say that the other male was not the only one who had experienced such tragedies. Deimos had had his fair share of loss and pain. Such was the outcome when you were to care for someone. The closer you get to another person’s heart, the higher your hopes become; then you fall. Oh, how you fall.
“…I haven’t.” The response he let slip may as well have been a shock even to himself. His usual stoic face broke for a mere second as his hand dropped from Ethos’ arm to hang at his side uselessly. The truth was hanging right in front of them- Deimos had not left and he certainly had yet to face death any time soon. Ethos had been referring to the people he cared for, however. But Ethos cared for him, right?
“…I’m not going anywhere.”
Man, I really like Starfighter. I like the drawing style, and it’s fun to read.
