to all my neurodivergent pals, or people that have suffered abuse, or anyone who just really likes stuffed animals, don’t let anyone shame you or call you childish for having stuffed animals. whether you’re a kid, a teen, or an adult, you have a right to have things that bring you comfort. if it’s your childhood teddy bear or a really soft stuffed animal, if it makes you happy and feel good then who’s to say you’re “too old” to have it?
i still collect and treasure stuffed animals, and i’m closer to adulthood than i am to childhood. i like soft things and i like holding things, and my stuffed animals fulfill that. i have a lot from when i was a kid that have a great deal of sentimental value, and i have newer ones that i love for a myriad of reasons.
and i really don’t care if people think i’m childish for having them. they make me feel very safe and grounded when i’m having a meltdown, and they’re something tactile that helps me in those times.
if anyone ever makes y’all feel bad about having stuffed animals, tell them they’re wrong. if they continue to do it, maybe you shouldn’t interact with them as much if they make you feel bad. it doesn’t matter how old you are, stuffed animals are for everyone! anyone who thinks otherwise...well they just kinda suck.
