Reflecting & Redefining Myself
I can’t believe we are at May already. This year is flying by. April was a big month for me, I did a lot of personal development, self-reflection, and taking the time to be truly honest with myself. I didn’t like all the answers I got from this self-reflection for it made me face my faults, my short comings, but this has allowed me to truly start to making changes in my life. I have a lot I want to work on, a lot that I want to improve, but I can only do it one step at a time. Looking back over April I believe I did a good job of taking my first few steps.
My very first step was to learn how to start my day off right. I have always been considered by myself and others a night owl. I have let this to become an excuse allowing myself to believe I couldn’t ever enjoy mornings, and that they would always be a pain. This has led to me having slow lethargic mornings or ones that are completely rushed when I sleep in. I would always wake up with dread every morning, only ever wanting to go back to sleep.
Yet for the last month I have woken up earlier just about every day, and I’ve enjoyed it! So what changed? I read a book called ‘The Miracle Morning’ now I’m not going to go in to a full review of the book, that’s for a different post, but it did make me realize that I could in fact be a morning person if I so choose. That it is simply a lot of mind of matter, and setting yourself up for success.
It feels amazing that by the time I leave for work, I have generally been up for 3 hours already and in doing so accomplish so much, from meditations, journaling, personal development, reading, chores, even enjoying some Netflix. I’m still playing around with my Morning Routine it’s nowhere near being polished; however in the last month I have gone from despising mornings with a passion; to looking forward to them each day. This in turn has enable me to feel better about my days and accomplish so much more.
