Clara could only fly by using the telepathic circuit

The only ones who ACTUALLY know how to fly the TARDIS on their own, know what all the buttons and switches do and can read the screens are River and Yaz

And I think that's beautiful

k I'm gonna rant about DW ya'll will have to pardon me (spoilers for all the rtd area I guess)

Just rewatched The Runaway Bride and I can't get over how determined the doctor is to help Donna get married. Like, they're just sitting in they're TARDIS, literally after the worst day of their life, and this this strange woman just teleports in and starts shouting at them. And like 10 minutes into the episode the doctor is running in the streets like crazy, trying to catch a taxi for Donna so that she'll get there in time. Sonicing the public phone so that Donna could phone her parents, and running to the vending machine to get money for her. I mean, yes, the doctor can't always read social situations properly, but they notice the moment Donna's really feeling down (after seeing the way her family and Lance treat her), and they're doing their best to be kind to her. This quiet "come on" when Donna is crying in the TARDIS and the doctor wants her to see the creation of the earth, not just to find out what's in it's center, but also to cheer her up. That moment when they're sitting on the roof and the doctor, without asking or hesitating, takes off their jacket and wraps it around Donna's shoulders.

And what breaks my heart even more, is the fact that this is probably the nicest anyone has ever been to Donna. She's always so angry and rude but that's just because that's the only way she could get anyone to listen to her. And then the doctor shows her kindness and helps her simply because they care.

And then comes this scene where the Racnos emperor wants the kill the doctor, and Donna just stands in front of the doctor, screaming that she won't let her hurt them. I mean, she literally protects with her own body this strange alien she just met a few hours ago, because for the first time in her life she felt what's it like to be cared for and appreciated, and now she's returning that favour. And it breaks my heart because Donna never learned to love herself, and at the end of season 4 the doctor takes all her memories, including the first time she met them, which was the first time anyone treated her like she's important, like she matters. God I just hate this, why am I doing this to myself
