I honestly just have to say: Guy and Sekkachi's relationship is hands down one of my absolute favorites ever, they bicker like an old married couple and have seen each other through their worst times and love and support each other unconditionally but it's all platonic and like god their friendship is just everything and makes me so giddy sometimes when I stop and think too long about it.

oh and when i was a year old, after i got my foot amputated my parents were pushing me around in a stroller at a street festival in miami and i was chewing on my foot or whatever and this street performer came up to us and was like “aw i bet that tastes good!!” and my dad was like “yeah look at what she did to the other one!!!!” and pulled back the blanket covering my left leg to show a stump with a huge scar on it and i’m pretty sure my dad terrified that poor man

A friend of ours worked in a movie theater.  One night, a rowdy little boy decided to kick over all the stands that held up the red velvet cords.

After several attempt to stop him, she finally declared, “If you keep kicking those over, your leg will fall off!”

No sooner had she said this than she looked up and was mortified to notice a man standing on a pair of crutches with one leg.

Before she could apologize, he looked down at the boy and sighed, “I used to love to kick those.”

The kid ran away.

My small hand looks normal enough that many people don’t notice for quite some time that it’s missing fingers, and I sometimes get people questioning if my hand was always like that but they never noticed, or if something recent happened to them.

So as a kid I absolutely loved when people tentatively asked me what happened to my hand and I’d unsuspiciously say, “What about my—” looking down at them, “notice” the missing fingers, and suddenly scream-recoil away as though I’d never seen the issue before. Managed to give quite a fright to multiple well-meaning adults about it. ✌️😎

Someone I knew in college who (I think congenitally) had one arm that ended around his elbow and had a prosthesis, and he would regularly take it off to give his other arm more reach and like tap people on the shoulder with it and shit.

Wyll has had enough (It's based on a screenshot from the scene when he isn't allowed into the city.) and I am still recreational portrait painting.

Getting a likeness is so hard. I felt, I did an ok job with Shads & Wyll, and definitely have to redo Gale, but Astarion here put me through the wringer. I think there's still something wrong with his jaw but overall I am ok with him now.

Friday wasn't great, so I did the second Gale as a treat.

Gale also got an immediate far-side-of-the-face job once I merged the layers down. Maybe one day I will catch the wonky perspective during drawing.

Gale's story is most important to me because to me it is mostly about the relationship of a man and his beloved craft. If you are passionate about something - no matter if it's painting, music, learning a language and being able to express yourself in it - and you get better at it, it can be bliss and become mentor, muse and friend to you, and quite easily your whole world. You might even feel beloved and blessed by your craft herself. Otoh a phase of stagnation might feel like your craft is a cold, unkind mistress, dangling the secrets you desperately need just out of reach - and you have to do everything in your power to climb to those heights because otherwise, you are nothing but the sum of your failures.

I feel the internet does not make it easier because while it offers inspiration and community, it also forces constant comparisons with all the masters of the past and present on to you - there might even be a handy metric to put numbers to your self esteem. So you can easily feel like you have to proof something. Especially if you pursue your thing with professional ardour, this can send you down a very negative feedback loop and make you hunt down those "three little tricks" instead of just enjoying your slow but frustrating growth.

I guess, what I am trying to say is, that it makes me so happy to have Gale patch up his relationship with magic. So he can enjoy it again in a healthier way in which it doesn't consume his whole being, in which he can share his passion with his students and inspire them to greatness while also encouraging them to enjoy the journey, or in which he does not have to limit his interests but can follow his curiosity to another adventure.
