So hey guys I finished a thing! Wish I had the time to at the very least got the eyebrows done.
A little WIP of my current animation project. Entire clip is about a minute and a half long. I have some ideas for it, so here’s hoping they work out in the time I have left to work on it 8D
Monty Oum - My Inspiration
A year ago today I was one of the thousands that mourned and cried for the loss of this magnificent person- and I had never met the man and he had never known me. Never have I been moved or inspired by someone so much in my life. RWBY and Monty are the reasons I am where I am today; currently in school studying for 3D Animation, and I have never been happier with my life because of it. I’m doing something and I’m having fun doing it. I’m excited to get to class most days, and the work and projects I do are done with pride and all the effort I can put into them. It’s not a job or a chore to do, I’m enjoying every minute of it. For the longest time I hadn’t known what I wanted to do with my life. I had been out of school for a year, still living at home with no plan or idea for the future.. and then things just sort of happened one after the other and fell into place. First, I had gone to Hal-con and there I stumbled upon a table/booth for a local college (then called The Center for Arts and Technology, now daVinci College,) and their program 3D Animation for Game, Film and Visual Effects seemed to pique my interest enough but.. I was not a confident person in my artistic ability, and so it merely stayed an idea in the back of my mind. Then later, the tipping point. I don’t know how long after Hal-con it was, but there was a RWBY production diary was released, and just like that I was taken. Seeing the passion being put into every minute of work by everyone, and seeing them having the times of their lives yet still working- it was like a fairy tale to me. A fairy tale I wanted to be a part of. It was that passion and energy and just general enthusiasm for what they were doing that drew me in and made me finally think “I can do this.” That is something I could be doing 10 years from now and still be enjoying what I do, just as these people were. Come the October of 2014 I was starting my 2-year program. So when Monty passed in 2015, just after I had started school.. I cried. I cried in my room as hard as I cried when my grandfather had passed away. It surprised me how much I mourned for someone I had never even known and who hadn’t known me in return. Yet him and his work and his team had such an impact in my life, it dug deep to hear that he was gone. There are even still times today when I’m struggling to get work done where I just take a moment to breathe and think “.. Just keep going. Just keep moving forward, you’ll get there. A little bit at a time.” And while he may be gone, never will Monty be forgotten when there are people around the world who have been touched by his passion. So thank you Monty. Thank you for all that you’ve done.
Have some pushing bro. Did this over Christmas for class. Couldn’t sleep so in the wee early hours of the morning I did homework.
Just keep swimming, just keep swimming. Will likely edit this one a bit later: close shot; bit more fluid leg movements; /fixing that irritating slowing down right at the end/. I don’t know why it did that. Oh well.
Assignment was just to make a thing using the tips and tricks provided in class then create a few render passes to comp together and make look prettier. Ended up with this thing, hooray! Yaaaay ZBrush sculpts!
Absolutely love this still render I took of my character’s face/eyes. Okay so it might have been a bit cheaty and I took the irises off of an image I easily/quickly found on google but SHHH. #seekrits But nah, I was super happy with this. Love it to pieces. She’s also fully textured (obviously), rigged, and skin-weighted. I haven’t done any animations with her yet, but you can see her posed on my demo reel. Her name’s Aliyah.
Do you even lift bro? (Playblast because wheee, assignments. There should be a push coming soon)
Erhmahgerd my most recent demo reel. Thankfully, that confounded Space Kitchen from my second semester (preeeetty much a year ago) is being replaced soon. At least I hope it is. I guess ya’ll are going to see what my boring-ass room looks like.
I’m really wanting to do some more lip syncs. I have quite a bit of fun with them even if they do take me some time. Perhaps it’s just because I spend too long trying to get the enunciation to where I want it to be? Ah well, with practice comes ease and speed!
An animation from last semester. I don’t have any proper renders though (they hadn’t turned out as well as I had hoped to put on my reel), so HAVE A PLAYBLAST. <3 Audio is from Disney’s Atlantis.
