The Jar of Fucks

I’m not much of one for spell jars, but this is one of my favorite ones, and its one of my own devising. The “fuck jar” comes from the saying “I’d give a fuck if I had one”. Essentially, it allows you to take that fuck you’d otherwise give, and leave it at home where you can’t give it anymore. This is for when you’re stressed out, worn down, or broken hearted.

You need: 

a jar with a sealing lid

Colored stones in elemental colors (I used glass beads in yellow, blue, green, and red, but if you have different associations, use those)

Smallish scraps of paper

A pen

Fill the jar with the the stones or beads. Write on the piece of paper the name of the person or thing that you’ve been obsessing over. Fold it up if you need, and then bury it in the stones in the jar. Envision the scrap of paper burning, being buried, being washed away and dissolved, being blown away piece by piece. Then seal the jar tight so it can’t escape. 

And there you have it: A fuck jar, to hold all the fucks you no longer wish to give!

A suggestion for non-Indigenous neopagans: The Norse fylgja (plural fylgjur) is a concept that suits the way white people tend to talk about spirit animals, but without all the yoinking and stomping on closed cultures.

The fylgja is a spirit that follows and protects an individual from the time of their birth and can take the form of an animal. In those cases, the form it assumes is typically representational of a person’s own spirit, but it can also appear as a human as well, though that can have slightly different implications about the nature of the thing. Keep in mind, though, that seeing one’s own fylgja is said to be an omen that a person’s death is near.

Fun fact for all you out there, fylgja means ‘to accompany’ and is largely where the idea of a witch’s familar stems from. Familiar is a perfect alternative if you can’t pronounce this

Epic Handshake Tarot Spread

One. The unifying factor. Why positions 2 and 3 connect, what they bond over. I recommend laying this card face down first, then flipping it over after you’ve laid down the other cards.

Two & Three. Identities or factors in your life that you’re trying to find commonality between. (Example: writing and drawing, then #1 can be seen as how to combine the two).

There’s a lot of variations on this meme with more hands and more groups bonding over the unifying factor. I tested it with up to twelve different things, so you could definitely expand this one to suit your needs.

D20 Dice & Magick

Today I want to talk about a way to use dice in magickal work and divination. Bear with me as this may get really, really nerdy. I play Table Top RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons

A regular set of d20 dice comes with a mix of things:

d4, d6, d8, d12 - in games usually used for determining amount of healing, damage, etc during encounters

d10 & d% - The d10 and d% can be combined to make a “percentile” role.

d20 - typically used for most roles to see if an action/save is successful in games; A 10 is generally the “passing” point for most things of average difficulty. Often rolls with a d20 are compared against existing other numbers

ASSOCIATIONS

Colors - dice come in every possible color, Amazon and most game stores are replete with them! Color associations can be used for the dice to represent specific

Shapes - d4 is a pyramid, d6 is a cube, the other shapes are all within geometric lines and may find symbolism useful if you are into geometry magick

Materials - dice made from amethyst/obsidian/bone/metal etc are made and sold at higher prices which can be great for specific magickal work

I’m sure that numerology/sacred geometry might be appealing for some folks here too but I am not as knowledgeable about these things

IDEAS FOR DIVINATIONS/SPELLWORK

Will this endeavor/future event succeed or occur? 1-20 to scale likeliness of the event happening

Multiple colored dice, assign each to a certain aspect or feeling; see which you are embodying most based on what is rolled for each

“Natural 1” or “Natural 20” side up to perform a curse/hex or a spell for success, respectively
