For one glorious moment I thought maybe I could have gluten again (accidentally ate a slice of cake that was vegan but not vegan and gluten free, my mistake), but then I ate a naan bread and had to lie down for four days.

White dragon fruit tastes just as good in a smoothie but⦠does not quite have the same look
Weight check in
Starting weight: 18st 7lbs/259lbs/117.5kg
Current weight: 17st 9lbs/247lbs/112kg
It can be a bit hard to get an accurate picture of my weight, since if I get a flare up then I swell up like a balloon and retain water, so my check ins aren't very frequent (only when I'm pretty sure I'm not massively inflamed).
I don't have a Goal Weight passed 12st 7lbs because that would put me in the highest bmi range that the NHS is willing to operate on.
New Weight Check In
Weighed myself again and Iām down to 17st 5.25lbs
Nice to see that Iām steadily making progress, even when Iām feeling a bit swollen
Todayās Food Diary
Breakfast: tropical smoothie
Lunch: pea soup, quinoa crisps, vegan sausage egg bite, strawberry Alpro yogurt
Dinner: gf buckwheat pasta with bolognese, two passion fruit mochi
Snacks: little bar of vegan white chocolate
Doing better than the last two days of extreme swelling and considerable pain, but Iām battling an infection and thereās something fucked with my inner ear because I have no balance anymore.
Todayās Food Diary
Breakfast: meal replacement shake made with water because we were out of soy milk
Lunch: was a weird one, went grocery shopping after a play group I had to be in a wheelchair for the whole thing. Even after that I was exhausted so I ended up napping until 4.30 when I had a vegan yogurt, a vegan jelly, a packet of lentil crisps and a flapjack
Dinner: vegan chicken fajitas with mixed veg and vegan cheese in gf wraps
Snacks: bowl of vanilla cashew ice cream
My pain and swelling has been fucking awful today, maxed out on all my pain killers and spent most of the day in bed
Todayās Food Diary
Breakfast: dragon fruit smoothie
Lunch: lentil and pepper soup, lentil crisps, small gf tiger roll with Vitalite, violife cheese, and quorn vegan ham
Dinner: chickpea pasta with vegan bacon, vegan cheese, and basil pesto
Snacks: the rest of my Easter egg and two mini doughnuts taken with my pain meds, two mini mochi after dinner, a wham bar and some nerds while working on my pip appeal.
Technically Iām supposed to have a meal without ācarbsā (complex carbohydrates, no rice or potato etc) but I was out of egg bites and too sore to sort out anything else, no one tell my dietician.
I was basically bedridden today. Swelling in my legs, knee pain, muscle soreness and stiffness. The cause? Walking slowly around my parents garden to set up the Easter egg hunt yesterday š
Easterās Food Diary
Breakfast: pink berry smoothie
Lunch: vegan cheese omelette and hummus crisps
Dinner: sweet potato base pizza with violife cheese, vegan bacon and olives. Roasted potatoes and vegetables, apple juice
Snacks: passion fruit juice, half of an Easter egg (~50g apparently), marshmallow krispie cake, chocolate cake decorations.
Todayās (yesterdayās) Food Diary
Breakfast: pink berry smoothie
Lunch: lentil crisps, vegan sausage, cheese and pepper omelette
Dinner: beyond burger with chips and a sparkling mango rubicon
Snacks: passion fruit juice, quinoa crisps
Considering that itās Easter and I have so much chocolate in the house Iām kind of impressed with myself for only snacking on juice and an extra packet of crisps. No one tell my dietician about the juice though.
Avocados should be 80 calories max. The fact theyāre so much more is bullshit.
Todayās Food Diary
I am still so fucking sickā secondary infection and all, compounding with all my inflammation and asthma. So I didnāt really get up until midday, eating has been a bit fucky today as a result.
Breakfast: the last two egg bites because they were quick and easy and I didnāt want them to go off.
Lunch: housemate āreally felt like frying onionsā so we had hot dogs for lunch. Two gf tiger rolls and veggie patty sausages with fried onion and vegan cheese, ketchup too
Dinner: pesto potatoes and vegan chicken
Snacks: hot chocolate
Todayās Food Diary
Breakfast: raspberry and peanut butter porridge. It was alright, but I always feel like Iām not getting enough protein if I canāt at least add protein powder, and itās only one serving of fruit.
Lunch, attempt 1: lentil crisps, egg bite and two spoonfuls of the worst soup Iāve ever made.
Lunch, attempt 2: two mini gf wraps with leftover fajita mix and grated vegan cheese.
Dinner: soba noodle soup with tofu pieces and veggies
Snacks: fruit tea, mini doughnut, a glass of guava juice and two glasses of lychee juice
More juice than I normally would have (no one rat me out to my dietician) but I do have a monster of a cold and a sinus infection so Iām just chalking that up to extra vitamins and fluids.
After we put the small child to bed my mum came over and we reviewed all the evidence and the first draft for my mandatory reconsideration letter. Feeling slightly less doomed about it now.
Todayās Food Diary
Still sick, probably developing sinusitis, less insatiably hungry though.
Breakfast: dragon fruit smoothie (because I needed that shade of pink to cheer me up)
Lunch: lentil and pepper soup (the last of it), lentil crisps, egg bites, and mango
Dinner: soy piece korma, dal, rice and popadoms
Snacks: guava juice, and a mini doughnut
me: maybe i am not chronically ill, maybe people are right and i just need to push harder and stop being lazy
me going through a massive flare: fucking hell
The fact that experiencing pain long-term actually increases your sensitivity to pain instead of you getting used to it is absolute bullshit! I demand a refund
Todayās Food Diary
Weāre all sick with a cold so I didnāt really have three distinct meals as ate little and often around my symptoms and a very sad, ill toddler. Iāve grouped things into four anyway.
Breakfast: white chocolate and raspberry porridge with linseed, Pom bears
Lunch: lentil crisps, lentil and pepper soup, egg bite, mini doughnut
Dinner: aubergine and vegan chicken wraps (two), with homemade coleslaw, mini doughnut
Snacks: booja chocolate ice cream, Pom bears
We all have the plague. Not The Plague, thank goodness, but one of the upper respiratory ones that seem to fester in nurseries.
So obviously Iāve swelled up like that girl from Charlie and the chocolate factory and my throat is like sand paper.
Friendly reminder that being chronically ill is exhausting

You're ALWAYS suffering. Even if it's not too much, it's always there
