It’s a wrap on the gold foil series! I had finished listening to the Vox Machina story (almost exactly) a year ago and I was glad for the chance to revisit them. For all of the laughter and friendship and tears, I’m so grateful to the bunch of nerdy voice actors who let all of us witness the story and watch it unfold along with them.

As he walks down the hall, you hear his feet across the stonework, echo quieter and quieter until you can’t hear it anymore.

“Can we not be a family? Can we–like redact that?”

he sat and offered his hand, and vilya stepped forward. (oh, momma would be so mad if she knew about this…) the sunlight streamed through the forest canopy, almost illuminating the figure’s face beneath the hood, but not quite.

she sat in the grass – in front of him, but not quite ready to take his hand. she’s young, but not a complete idiot.

“who are you?” she repeated hesitantly. “how do you know me?”

Of course she didn't know him, why would she. She, who was only a child, who grew up with her mother with the druids and learned their ways. She, of the sun and shadow who never knew him. Which, was probably for the best, but with His Matron allowing him to walk the plane again, he needed to see her. He had to see her.

The figure's face was sharp at the chin, just under the hood; he smiled and tilted his head to the other side. She had her father's curiosity, of trekking where she shouldn't and meeting those who may have not been too trustworthy. There was a soft sigh as his hand went to the ground, a mutter under his breath in Druidic, letting a small patch of snowdrops form towards her.

vilya looked up from the bushes she was crouched behind. she’d never heard that voice before, but it seemed so familiar to her.

the shadowy figure called her little dove, just like her grandad. and they knew her name…surely there was no reason to hide, right?

“hello?” she called back tentatively. “who’s there? who are you?”

The man gave a small smile under the hood, tilting his head at the sound of the voice. She sounded like her, inquisitive and wonderful. He had only seen the small memories as they flickered in the shadows, but he always knew of her name. He knew her name, knew how big she'd gotten over the years of not seeing her; he knew that she looked like him, save for her eyes of her mother. She would always have those.

He crouched down and sat in the grass, offering a hand out to the sound. ' it's all right. i'm not going to hurt you. '
