In 1996, The Ramones, one of the first and most well-known punk rock bands, formally broke up. A number of causes, including artistic disagreements, interpersonal disputes, and a general sense that they had accomplished what they had set out to do as a band, led to the breakup rather than any one major event.
Lead singer Joey Ramone battled health concerns, and the band's internal strife had gotten worse over time. Despite this, they were able to come back together for their 1995 studio album "Adios Amigos," which served as their last. After the album was released, the group started a farewell tour, which came to an end on August 6, 1996, with a performance in Los Angeles. The Ramones' active touring and recording career came to an end as a result of this.
