There's another girl in my theatre company who has chronic eczema so we always hang out and complain and show each other our rash scars haha Shes not as into the natural care stuff as I am so we're going to have an eczema spa day where I show her my tricks for natural exfoliation and my mixtures for stopping weeping. If any of you know of any natural treatments for eczema that would be cool to try, please let me know!
hey just a little psa to everyone who has eczema like me (also psoriasis and some other chronic skin conditions) and who wants to get a tattoo
please be very careful because the metals used to create tattoo ink (like iron oxide, aluminum, manganese) can cause serious allergic reactions to people with eczema. we’re actually more likely to have allergic reactions because our skin is so sensitive
this doesn’t mean that you can never have a tattoo, but please research it fully before you make a decision; some places will give you a patch test to see if you react badly to the ink
here are some links i found helpful when looking into this for myself:
tattoos and eczema
tattoos and psoriasis
allergic reactions to ink
ehow (has info about patch tests etc)

She would be really pretty if she had nice skin.
What my dad said to my relatives after I went to bed. (via sanwichsays)
Hahaha what an asshole. You're gorgeous no matter what. Don't let your skin or your dad condemn you to a life of being less than.
Went out for dinner tonight. One year and 102 days after stopping steroids. I felt so cute and so free. :)
Beautiful!
Eczema ain’t gonna kill my good mood today. It’s sunny and I’m wearing a dress. Suck my dick eczema I am fucking hot shit, don’t mess with me today
The best attitude to have when dealing with this. Do what you want, not what your skin tells you to do. Lookin good.

Attention spoonies who get rashes
I’ve found something that actually works. My skin is quite photosensitive and being under bright lights and in the sun gives me this horrible rash on my exposed skin.
I’ve tried liquid paraffin, eumovate, anaesthetic creams and they tended to agrevate the rash and sting badly. So what I did was this: I whipped 1 or 2 drops of lavender oil, 1 tsp coconut oil and ½ tsp of vitamin e oil together and massaged onto my rashes after a warm shower. I applied some more of this cream whenever it started to feel dry.
It’s been less than a week and my rash has almost completely gone. I didn’t get to take a picture of the rash at it’s worse, so the first image is the day after I started applying cream. It’s way better than it was but it still looks pretty gross lol.

You suffer from a skin condition (eczema, vitiligo, lupus, rosacea, etc.). Let’s see how many of us are out there.

So I'm a theatre nerd. I'm a slashie, which means I tech and I act for productions. Last week, my company put on a production of Peter Pan. I was the head tech for the makeup crew, meaning I was in charge of all cosmetic designs. Growing up I always wanted to be a cosmetologist. But I had to learn to live with the fact that my dreams of being a special effects artist for film were impossible due to my condition. So I did the makeup for my school production to satisfy those needs and well... It didn't quite work out. On Friday I developed perioral dermatitis from working around so much cheap makeup in an enclosed area. My doctor told me I had to stop, but with two shows left and an entire theatre company relying on me, that wasn't an option. So I walked around the auditorium for two days looking something like this. I tried to match my bandana to the show's theme (Neverland pirates, get it?) And yet I still faced unsolicited comments from my peers. One asked me if I'd joined ISIS. I wanted to punch him. I put a sign on the makeup room door that said "Kelsey is ill, please don't ask about the bandana" but of course I got asked about it by everyone who's makeup I did. But at the end of it all im proud of what I accomplished. I even got a pretty cool nickname because of my bandana and my habit of running around with eyeliner pencils and filling in EVERYONES eyebrows: I am the eyebrow ninja.
The only thing I hate more than using steroids on my skin is the word "ointment"
My Support System
Just as my illness started to take root in my pores, I met a kind boy. Over time we grew closer and closer, and even flirted a bit. I heavily debated to validity of my attraction to him- me? With a boyfriend? Unheard of. I was far too awkward, far too insecure, far too ugly. My skin worsened. Everything worsened. I was full of hatred and an intense need to deny the sympathy of others. I refused physical contact and rejected and and all affection. I took my anger out on this boy, because he did to me what I really needed someone to do: he stayed with me. But I, of course, felt I was far too undeserving of kindness. He stayed. And he stayed. And he stayed. He told me he'd never leave; he wanted to be there for me. So he stayed. I was shocked. I yelled at him, hated him, ignored him, and yet, he stayed. My skin got better and so did our friendship. I appreciated his love. And then he started dating another girl, and I decided it was time to admit to having been in love with him for two years. He loved me back. He fought to be with me. He left her. We've been together for 9 months. Somehow he's still around. He puts up with my constant complaints and lack of self esteem. He has endless patience for me. He holds me when I cry and tells me he still thinks I'm beautiful when his black bed sheets are speckled with my skin. Eczema makes, ahem, physical intimacy difficult, and I always smell like ointment, but he stays. Last night when I saw the pustules of perioral dermatitis forming on my mouth, I was afraid of it being contagious. He wanted to kiss me; I'd just spent ten minutes crying behind some wooden planks in the auditorium my theatre company occupies. I told him no. I didn't want him to get sick. He grabbed my face firmly in his hands and kissed my lips hard and told me he didn't care. So be it. He loves me. I'm not claiming I've done anything right. My treatment of him was borderline abusive and had he left I would have been completely deserving. I acknowledge that my stealing him from his ex girlfriend was worthy of a Taylor Swift-style backlash from my peers. Maybe he shouldn't forcefully kiss me when I'm potentially contagious. None of that is the point. The point is, if you have someone in your life that is willing to stay by your side and fight a battle they could never win for you, appreciate them. People will pity you for your illness, try to feign sympathy, and maybe even hug you (before turning around to brush the skin flakes and waxy ointment from their skin). But find someone who will do just one thing for you: Find someone who will stay.
