I would once again like to mention my problems as follows- 1) Engine Vibration at Idle/ Neutral position. When the vehicle ignition is switched “ON” the vehicle shakes heavily and produces noise. Secondly when the vehicle is “START” and the gear is Neutral/ idling condition – vehicle produces lot of vibration.This vibration is irritating and distracts attention for every moment spent in the Etios.The vibrations are so intense that the vibrations are felt in the driver and passenger seats, steering, side arm rest, roof top, tail ( boot space) of my etios. 2) Road Noise inside the cabin. When the vehicle is moving on the road, great amount of sound from the tyre reaches the inside cabin of the car, which is very irritating while driving.This noise is heard even with window glass closed and AC switched ON. 3) Engine Noise inside the cabin. The vehicle produces a lot of noise while accelerating. It sounds as if lot of lot of load has been put on the engine even with light load in the car (with 2 passengers inside the cabin). This noise is very distracting while driving. 4 ) Absence of Weather gaskets on all four Doors.

The absence of gasket makes it convenient for insects, cockroaches, ants, spiders and lizards to get inside the vehicle as soon as the door is opened. The interior area of the cabin trapped between the frame and door is always dirty even though the vehicle is cleaned from outside. www.myetios.com

5) Jerks while driving Less weight of the car makes it bouncy on road.The suspension is poor and the impact of the holes on road comes directly to the passsngers inside the car cabin. The ride is rough. The comfort part is missing from the vehicle. 6) Battery The battery drains out completely in less than a weeks time of non usage of the vehicle. It has happened with me three times. 7) Paint The pain quality is poor as it chips out and cracks out. 8.) Air conditioner The Air Conditioner, when it is switched off produces bad smell inside the cabin. 9) Brakes The brakes are ineffective and takes time to fully act on pedal press. 10) Transmission – Reverse Gear On application of reverse gear the gears make jarring noise. This is very annoying. The transmission is very poorly designed which takes lot of effort to shift gears. One feels like fighting with every gear change. 11) Horn sounds more inside than outside This is because of poor acoustic insulation in Etios that the sound of horn is heard more inside the passenger cabin than outside. 12) Pick up The pickup is very low at any gear and even the new vehicle seems to be tired and exhausted. 13) Mileage The actual mileage of ETIOS in city conditions is not more than 10 kilometer per litre in city conditions. The company claims it to be more than 17.5 kilometers per litre. 14) Interior The interior plastic quality is very raw and gives a very cheap feeling. The interior plastic shade is also very irritating. The seats are also of very poor quality. The interior plastic has started making absurd noise because of excessive vibrations in the vehicle.

TOKYO — Toyota will fix about 1.7 million vehicles globally in two separate recalls over defective fuel lines and high-pressure fuel pumps, the Japanese automaker said Wednesday, drawing renewed attention to the quality of the company’s products.

The decision to call back the vehicles follows promises by Toyota to be swifter in addressing problems in its products after it was criticized as being slow to react to previous defects.

But the recalls, which span cars manufactured over the last decade, also raise the question of how widespread Toyota’s quality control problems had become in a period of breakneck growth for the company. From 2000 to 2008, its global unit sales grew by more than 50 percent, helping Toyota overtake General Motors as the world’s largest automaker. But even Toyota’s own executives admit the rapid growth may have come at the expense of the company’s once-stellar reputation for quality.

The recall over faulty fuel lines affects about 1.2 million units of the RAV4, Noah, Voxy and other models in Japan and about 140,000 units of the Avensis model in Europe, manufactured from 2000 to 2008, said Shiori Hashimoto, a spokeswoman for Toyota in Tokyo.

A design flaw meant cracks could appear in the lines, leading to fuel leaks, Ms. Hashimoto said. A loose valve in some of the affected cars’ high-pressure fuel pumps could also cause fuel to leak.

The second recall includes 280,000 units across several models of the luxury Lexus brand overseas, mostly in the United States, as well as 75,000 units of the Crown, Mark X and Lexus brands in Japan. The pressure sensor attached to the engine’s fuel delivery line could come loose, causing the fuel to leak, Ms. Hashimoto said. Affected vehicles were made from 2006 to 2009.

Toyota received complaints from customers about the defects but was not aware of any accidents linked to either defect, Ms. Hashimoto said.

Quality at Toyota has been in the spotlight since a series of major recalls in the last two years, the largest of which were related to complaints about sudden acceleration. American regulators fined the company $48.8 million for having reacted too slowly on that matter and on an unrelated 2005 recall.

The president of the company, Akio Toyoda, has pledged to be more responsive to customers and to initiate recalls more quickly than in the past. Toyota also installed a quality chief for North America and other regions and has said that local executives will have more authority to order recalls. Toyota made 18 separate recalls in the United States last year, twice its previous record.

Ms. Hashimoto stressed that the recalls were part of a continuing effort to be more responsive to customer feedback and to move more quickly and openly on recalls. “We are redoubling our efforts to listen to our customers and to swiftly reflect any complaints in our recall decisions,” she said.

The frequency of the recalls, however, is compounding the company’s image problems. A recent survey by the publication Consumer Reports measuring perceptions about automakers showed that the recalls had significantly affected Toyota’s reputation for quality.

Toyota also led global vehicle sales for the third year in a row in 2010, despite a strong postbankruptcy turnaround from General Motors.

But Toyota has suffered in the United States, its biggest market. Toyota was the only major automaker to experience a sales decline there last year.

I got it I st free service on 01.04.2011 at 638 KM at Glaxy Toyota , Okhla Ind. Area. Now I am facing a very peculiar problem in my vehicle. If I do not use the vehicle for 2-3 days and it is in parking, the car does not start at all. I have faced this problem 2-3 times and so I want to bring the same to your notice so that the corrective action is taken immediately.

THE VIBRATION IS FELT ON STEERING WHEEL AND GEAR ROD. THE ACOUSTIC AND SOUND INSULATION IS VERY POOR. PERFORMANCE OF THE AIR CONDITIONER USED IS NOT SATISFACTORY. PICK UP AND FUEL CONSUMPTION AVERAGE IS NOT SATISFACTORY. I AM NOT AT ALL SATISFIED WITH THE ETIOS – THE QUESTIONABLE QUALITY CAR. IT IS BETTER TO BUY ANY OTHER CAR OR EVEN AUTO RICKSHAW THAN BUYING THE QUESTIONABLE CLASS ETIOS. IT SEEMS THAT TOYOTA JAPAN HAS NEVER TESTED THIS CAR ON THEIR OWN ROADS AND THEY INTRODUCE THIS CAR IN INDIA FOR TESTING AND TRIALS. SO IF THERE IS PROBLEMS THAN THEY WILL IMPROVE OR RECTIFY THE MISTAKES LATER AND LAUNCH IT ,WORLD WIDE. I NEVER EXPECTED THAT BRAND LIKE TOYOTA WILL INTRODUCE SUCH A POOR QUALITY CAR IN INDIA. NOW I FEEL THAT TOYOTA HAS TAKEN , INDIA FOR RIDE BY OFFERING POOR QUALITY CAR. I AM NOT SATISFIED WITH THIS CAR AT ALL.
