It's children in need tonight, let us not forget those children who sadly have already left us, grown their wings and have flown to heaven. Many of these children were in need, just like Harry, he needed medical help. Harry was autistic, he went in with a supposed tummy bug. The doctors didn't diagnose him correctly and my family in laws sadly lost their son. We want to make sure this never happens to anybody, any family ever again. best thing i learned working with and learning about kids: when they do shit like this, especially to something they themselves use and enjoy, leave it there for as long as possible. let them return to the fun thing over and over again so that it sinks in that the thing they did was wrong, they ruined something, and now they can’t have fun because of it and they should never do it again. it teaches them consequence of action and cautiousness.

i did this with a 3-year-old kid i babysat who filled his playstation with peanut butter before i got there, just every time he went back to it and asked why it’s not working, i opened it and pointed to the peanut butter stains and said “you did that” and he says “yeah”, “will it work like that?” “…no”, and when he got it and promised to never put anything but games into a game machine again, his parents bought another and he kept his promise. it works, even at that age.

this was a long and unnecessary rant but so many times i’ve seen parents IMMEDIATELY replace their kids’ toys/electronics that they destroy over and over again and i’m just like NO THEY’RE NOT LEARNING ANYTHING THAT WAY

why do i like marvel so much?

i like marvel because marvel saves the civilians. iron man’s suit can only hold two passengers? he finds a way to save them all anyway. the train’s derailing? pietro maximoff, who has barely used his powers before, saves all those in the way. the city is about to collapse with everyone on it? s.h.i.e.l.d. comes in and saves every single one. marvel saves the people while dc would knock off all of gotham for the hell of it. dc collapses football stadiums and hangs people to prove a point. marvel saves everyone because they’re just as important as the heroes. that’s the real point to be proven. and that’s why i love it so much.

why do i like dc so much?

i like dc because dc recognizes that ordinary civilians can be extraordinary. the only way to survive is to kill a boat of innocents or a boat of condemned? a nameless convict throw the detonator out the window and average everyday people recognize that there are things more important than one’s life. a city held hostage and isolated from all help? ordinary officers gather to make a war front. the Earth being invaded by GODLIKE beings and all life on the brink of total annihilation? humans– small, puny, and weak?– say “FCK YOU!” and fight back.

i like dc because dc does not sugarcoat life and death matters. there are hard choices and difficult consequences and often no-win situations, while marvel hide their bodies behind pointless banter to dodge responsibility. marvel treats ordinary civilians as points to be earned and cattle to be herd in a direction by the so-called ‘heroes’… not even to prove a point, but to show that the ‘privileged few’ are just that much better and the rest of us are voiceless and useless.

dc shows that ordinary people can be more, that they are NOT just AS important as the heroes, that ordinary people are heroes, too. that’s the real point to be proven. and that’s why i love it so much.
