I've updated this post since I now know what I actually want to say.

Interests:

I'm a huge Bookworm! I specifically love the fantasy genre. Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson being my favourite series

The marauders (I only just started deep diving into this Fandom over the past couple months so I'm still learning about it)

I love taking inspiration from the cottagecore and academia aesthetics. Honestly my dream is to hopefully one day live out in nature in a small cottagey home that has a library in it and a tea garden outside.

My favourite movie ever is dead poets society and I have never related more to a character then I do Todd Anderson.

My music taste is all over the place but my top 3 artists in no particular order is Noah Kahan, Taylor Swift and Hozier.

I love thrifting

The Lantern and I

There's a lantern,

It's my only company,

I trade stories with it in the darkness,

It smothers my unease.

My words are corpses in a cavern,

I lost them out at sea,

Never something I could harness,

At least not long enough to truly set them free.

I've been here for an age,

A decade of waiting,

I've even met my rage,

And in my mind,

There are two kids holding hands skating,

I left them behind,

They were already fading.

I could die out here,

No one would know,

Just me and my lantern,

Trading our ghosts,

I could fly out of here,

But where would I go?

My phantoms are stubborn,

I'll remain until the lantern loses its glow.

Darkness bleeds into my lungs,

Left me on the cliffside to my mourning,

There was a naive calm the night the last lullaby was sung,

Too much poison we've been ignoring,

Clenched fists and voice imploring,

Am I truly so high strung?

Or have we been killing something young.

Post mortem rotting,

But hands are still reaching,

Romance turned to plotting,

Who knew our love would be something I'd be preaching,

Your eyes glossed over,

Did you hear me?

Should I tie us together with a chain of clover?

I drew sheer black covers over the furniture,

You just let it happen,

I watched as the bones of our house fractured,

This is not the great adventure I imagined.

Together we'll sit alone in this house,

Together we'll drift further from our vows,

I'll wander my mind,

You'll forget that in your hand is mine.

Spend the rest of our days attending our funeral,

Echoes of the days we once called us beautiful,

Slowly but surely together we'll rot,

Forever we can pretend to be something we're not.

Farewell Sweet Sunshine

Frost on helenium,

The cold meets fingertips,

Farewells sent to the setting sun,

Sunshine spilled from her lips.

Timeless touch,

Hands meet a cheek flushed,

Dreamt up by Apollo’s paintbrush,

Yet the happiest I felt with her was when I was saying goodbye.

Farewell sweet sunshine,

Amber on water,

I met you while I was drowning,

Farewell sweet sunshine,

You threw my spine to the slaughter,

Showed me my own corpse, left my heart pounding.

Farewell my dear,

You frowned upon any darkness brought near,

Scolded me for staring into waters too clear.

Brought a false religion here,

Screamed when the vision grew too weak or too sheer.

You made me a crown of helenium,

Bottled my tears,

Didn’t believe in the setting sun,

Let me get lost in my fear.

Quietly treacherous touch,

Hands meet an angry flush,

Dreamt up by an imposter’s paintbrush,

You were an unsteady wish from the sky.

Devotion Warring With Time

She drank poisoned wine,

She lay in a bed of bones,

Recites a folktale of devotion warring with time,

Falls asleep to nightmares of an engraved stone.

Wakes to remnants of a lovers quarrel,

Echoes of fading dreams,

The terms and conditions of being mortal.

She paces her graveyard of hopes,

Gardens of roses shrivel in snow,

Visions of vows made turn into ghosts.

Still she thinks of her fondly,

The wound that still festers,

The lingering quandary,

Still she holds hope in the embers.

But what can one do,

When time refuses to stop,

And no one seems to understand.

Then the skies are no longer blue,

A veil of darkness, stars nothing more than a prop,

But she swears, for a brief moment, there was once a ring on her left hand.

So she goes and drinks more poisoned wine,

Falls back into her bed of bones,

Recites a folktale of devotion warring with time,

Until she falls asleep to nightmares of an engraved stone.

Bargaining in Limbo

I've been seeing visions every time I look out my window,

I'll make a phantom out of a decision until I'm trapped, bargaining in limbo.

Still the dreams persist,

Leaving me aching and listless,

Until I don't trust my own existence.

Clawing at my skin,

Take me away from the space that leaves me trembling from within.

Heart thrumming as I let my dear old friend win,

Fatal winter in its grin.

"Let me out,"

I scream with each step forward.

"I could make you so proud,

Just let me go shoreward."

Away,

From my own hands on my throat,

From opening the door to decay,

So I can stop holding hands with my ghost,

So I can mean it when I say I'm okay.

Cascading Failure

Fevered dreaming,

Always a cascading failure,

Tarnishing the tapestry I wove.

Intervening,

A wreckage went down with the sailor,

The sea tore through the flesh to the bone.

Paranoid ramblings,

The sailor's last offering to the wearisome world,

Or maybe a threadbare mind,

Panic not meant to be longstanding,

The shadow wandering through the truth unfurled,

Lightening storms leaving false conclusions behind.

I thought I saw the answer, I recognized counterfeit signs.

Some nights I wake from handmade dreams,

Cloaked in catastrophic footsteps,

Taking an axe to my spine.

I know the ending so I just watch it fall apart at the seams,

Lost in misunderstood depths,

I think I forgot something that long ago was mine.

Diamond Whispers

It was lit up in starlight,

Water drifting up the shore,

The day you held my hand and said it would be alright,

I felt a little unsure,

Gleaming diamond on my finger,

A promise in your eyes,

You really put me through the ringer,

But you promised we would fly.

Painted visions of us in a living room,

Reading stories of adventure,

Yet I fear we'd always be surrounded by scar tissue,

Something crueler at the center.

I've been lying to myself for what feels like an eternity,

You've let me take it all in,

Evoked the word 'love' for the reason for the urgency,

I let myself get swept up in your wind,

Let something poisoned begin,

Blur the truth and all within,

But I remember the starlit shore,

A diamond on my finger whispering "for evermore".
