Hi Ann Marie, I just found your blog and had a read, it was very interesting, I'm glad you had a happy reunion. I recently started searching for my birth parents and unfortunately it wasn't a happy ending, I am thinking of writing my own blog to share my story with others, do you have any tips?

Thank you :) I’m sorry yours wasn’t a happy ending :( I think thats great that you want to share your story with others! My best tip is just to write your blog for yourself and then your followers or readers will come. Thats why I started this blog, when I first started I needed an outlet to express how I felt about being adopted and then I created it to be more of an open space for any adoptee to feel comfortable on. So as cheesy as it sounds, just go with your heart and write for yourself and then the rest falls into place. Hope that helps a little bit! This Makes Me So Happy

Just recently watched a documentation about how children who grew up in orphanages have a little bit harder time attaching to people. It was pretty interesting. The documentary follows this family who recently adopted three children and how the brain sets up these defense mechanisms for the adopted children to try to avoid being attached to the adoptive parents. I think its a must see for families who are looking to adopt because its not always rainbows and butterflies when you first meet the child you are adopting. There is a lot more that goes into it. I also can relate to the whole attachment thing and when I was watching it, I was like “I used to do the same thing”. Although I disagree with some of the families way of parenting and how they go about situations it was still interesting and the ending was nice :) If you’re interested the documentary is on Netflix! Hi! I'm new to your blog so maybe you've already replied to this, I'm so sorry if you already have. I'm a Korean adoptee and I was thinking of finding my birthmom. Do you have any tips on starting and other helpful stuff? Thanks so much in advance. xx

Hey! welcome to my blog :) I think the best advice I can give to you is to ask your adoptive parents about the information, depending on the circumstances they may have the most information. Also you can see what adoption agency you were a part of and find information that way. My best advice is to try to keep an open and positive mind through this process, it can be very discouraging at times. The more information you can obtain the easier it’ll be to find your birth mother. Also age will play a big factor on receiving information, in the states you have to be 18+ for you to legally find information, I am not sure if it’s different anywhere else. Just because I may know some things, doesn't mean I don't want to learn more

Many of you know that 4 and half years ago I had the chance to go over to Lithuania and meet my birth family, which was an amazing experience with lots of emotions and questions. Looking back at it and finally fully processing the trip for a few years now, I still have questions. I would love to know more about my family health history and just random silly things. Like am I more like birth father or my birth mother? I want to know how my 6 other siblings felt when they first found out about me. It still amazes me to this day, that I was kept a secret for so long. I probably would have been more of a secret if my mom didn't go searching for my birth mother. I want to know how my birth mother felt when my birthday came along every year. Its just those random questions that come into mind when you least expect it, those are the questions I wish could be answered. I think I have come to terms that these questions won't always be answered and that I will always be asking more as I grow older. Maybe that is what life is all about (as cheesy as that sounds) you aren't going to know the answers to everything, but maybe it is the curiosity that keeps us going more than anything else.

Adive I want to meet my birth I was abused at 18 mouths my birth mom or someone at the house and I want to meet her to get answers what shall I do? Sorry I'm on anon im shy l come out but I would like to talk privately then

How old are you? depending on your age you can get either some information or little to none.  If you are over the age of 18 and live in the states then you might be able to have access to your adoption documentation. Best bet is to go through the adoption agency and see if they can find your records. Hopefully this helps you a little bit. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
