"It doesn't have to happen, no, but I will be extremely impressed by your control if you can resist when it's put right under your nose." Malcolm replied softly, trying his best not to scare the other but show him the realities of vampirism. "Control is something you constantly have to work on, otherwise it'll rear its ugly head at the worst time." He knew that himself all too well, still often getting flashbacks of what he did to Freyja, and his ex-girlfriend, and countless others before his time in Port Leiry.
He shrugged at the question, unsure on the answer to the others question, "I mean, when I first moved here I was living in some temporary accommodation. The guy had dogs, and they loved me; maybe they're better at sensing when they're in danger, will stay until they sense it coming. I don't know. What I do know is that most of us who are on a non-human diet go for animals such as rabbits, you know, the ones that people eat anyway." Mal tried his best to explain, but he didn't have all the answers and he didn't think he ever would. "But anyways, yes, at some point we can go bowling together, I suppose. I haven't been bowling since I was human, and even then it was a while ago. So, we'll suck together."
"My self control is already pretty low -- I doubt I'll be able to resist it." he sighed. "So here's to -- making sure it never -- happens!" he smirked, highly unlikely of course but he was ever the optimistic one.
"I like that answer -- a lot more." he smiled. "Okay I hate how rabbits is to go to for like-- a non-human vampire snack -- because that just-- I don't know man it's weird, mainly because their -- like -- so small -- like I know we don't need much -- but it can't be that easy to hunt and eat rabbits?" he rambled. "I'm glad I'm not the only one that's-- going to suck! Makes me feel -- much -- muuuuch better about my skills."
Flicking a thumb of careless blood from the corner of his lip, Daniel's eyes narrow on the boy; perceptions still dilated from the rush of fresh blood, he can usually practically see the veins bursting from the living, hear the quiet flow of blood as a quiet, distant drum thrums it along the whole of them.
Boyo here is quiet.
Quiet and stumbling over himself. "Kinky."
Daniel offers him a consolatory wink. "Relax, kid, we're in the same club." He leans into the dim reflection in a nearby storefront, fixing his silver-and-white hair into the styled mess he prefers rather than the chaotic mess of close intimacy before standing back again to regard the onlooker.
"Where's there to go here," he asks. "That isn't... loud, you know? Or full of dogs. God, so many dogs around here - do they not have leash laws on the West Coast?"
Mylo hadn't expected that response -- at all-- so for a few seconds his facial expressions went from confused, to wanting to laugh, to being awkward. He let out an awkward cough as he tried to wrap his head around everything. He figured the other wasn't human, he could smell the blood and it smelled amazing right about now. "I ehm-- I'm still -- trying to learn so-- sorry I eh-- just wanted to -- listen?" he questioned, mentally kicking himself over the weird ass answer.
"I think -- everywhere has leash laws -- sadly just cause it's a law -- doesn't mean people obey it -- you know." he shrugged, shuffling on his feet awkwardly. "I like the dogs-- makes this place -- I don't know -- normal."
Matthias lifted his hands from the machine, running them through his hair as if to smooth out both his frustration and his embarrassment. He knew Mylo worked here, and while they’d exchanged casual nods or a few words in passing, he hadn’t expected the guy to be within earshot of his little tantrum.
The joke brought a huff of dry laughter out of him, his lips twitching into a faint smirk. “Didn’t mean to rough it up. Donkey Kong’s just kicking my ass today,” he replied, shoving his hands into the pockets of his jacket. He tilted his head toward the machine, its pixelated screensaver mocking him from the corner of his eye. “I usually run the table on this thing, but I guess it’s not having me tonight.” He shifted his weight, leaning back against the game cabinet as his smirk faded into a more genuine, albeit tired, expression. “It’s been one of those weeks,” he admitted with a shrug. “Figured coming here might help, but even Donkey Kong’s not on my side.” His eyes flicked to Mylo. “You got any arcade wisdom to spare? I could use a win about now.”
"Yea that was ehm -- well kinda obvious dude -- people usually don't abuse the machines -- when their winning." he grinned. He carefully watched the other, listening. One thing he knew is how relaxing gaming could be, especially after a tiring day, however it could also have the reverse affect -- like in poor Matthias' case, Mylo wasn't one to judge though. He had had his own run ins with game consoles before.
"Weeks? That sounds -- rough dude. Sorry donkey kong is an absolute -- menace." he smiled. "Well -- I'd say play any multiplayer game -- against me, and you'll for sure win. I suck -- so sadly -- not able to give any great recommendations."
"I guess they just liked names with Anna in it. My sister is called Annabelle, though she goes by her middle name. Brother got the better name, Reid." She offered, a shrug on her shoulders. Lis had never given much thought to where her name came from, mostly because she had little to no respect for the people who had named her. "You know where your name comes from?"
"Oh wow -- so Annalise, Annabelle and... Reid? I get the Annalise and Annabelle part but Reid is such a -- like -- it's so short compared to the other two?" Mylo said, making it sound like a question. Obviously everybody named their kid whatever they wanted, but he never understood how parents can pick names that are nothing alike when they have multiple children. "don't know where it came from but -- I know it's supposed to mean like -- soldier or --something."
"My type...." Aelin chuckled to herself, thinking about the question. What the fuck did spicy mean? "What is spicy? Like Extra peppers?" Aelin was rolling at the ideas swarming inside her brain. Mylo was young and hip, but she was old and outdated. "Just want a woman who is strong and independent and fucking gorgeous. Also, bonus points for being undead." Aelin loved the way he perceived the world. Even in this brief introduction, she could see the light in the darkness that would outlast eternity.
"What's your type, Mylo?" she asked, her laugh still lingering on her breath. This was the most effortless conversation she had had in years. "We need to get drinks and discuss this. Do you think? I know a place we can go."
"Nah spicy as in like-- fiery? Passionate -- that kind of spicy!" he explained, chuckling. "Hm I can definitely find that for you! Or well at least try my best!" he smiled. Making a mental note specifically for the undead part.
"Hm I don't know -- like -- physically I just -- I don't know, I'm all over the place I've -- like -- been interested in a variety of people you know?" he smiled. "Oh I'm down for drinks! Lead the way!"
"Well, we have forever got to have all the fun we want," Aelin smirked at the idea that this friendship might last. Mylo seemed to be the kind of guy she could get along with. "My type, hmmm, It has been a long time since I been in the dating game. I was married in my 20s." Aelin chuckled softly. "I am afraid I am both out of touch and out of practice."
It was hard to think about what she wanted, her type, as Mylo put it. "I like women with a lot of personality. Other than that, well, how about you? What are you looking for?"
"Ohh right that's true -- I'm liking immortality a lot more now." he giggled. "God damn for real? Lucky! That was always my dream -- like find the one early and just get to spend all your time with 'em -- guess I kind of got what I wanted now?" he shrugged. "No worries, I will teach you the ways of modern dating!"
"Lot of personality as like -- spicy? Or just someone who just -- I don't know, knows stuff?" he asked, there were other words he was looking for but of course his bilingual ass went nolingual just when he needed it. "Hm -- someone I can rely on I guess, all I know is I either like em silent, or I like them to yap -- like I talk a lot and I know that -- so I need someone who can either really listen to whatever my brain rambles -- or I need someone who just -- stops my rambling with their own rambling!"
Aelin laughed to the point of snorting. He was funny and put her in a good mood all around. "Mylo, I am thrilled we met. I haven't been this amused in a while." Aelin could not care less about his sexual appetite. This was a budding friendship. It was comical how their minds went there. "So, the last relationship was with a man, woman, or? Pardon my curiosity, but I will be your wingwoman any day of the week."
She had played with the idea of getting back on the supernatural market, even if just for one night. "You know any single ladies? I expect you would be a good wingman."
He couldn't help but laugh along with her, this was the first time he'd laughed this hard since -- well -- a long time, especially with someone. God he was finally making friends, hell she was probably going to end up being his best friend, and it just made him so happy. He missed being social, he missed laughing and having fun. "Me too -- I haven't felt like this for -- too long -- jesus it feels good to make friends again -- to like -- talk again you know?" he smiled warmly. "Woman, my first was a guy -- I had a few like -- not really partners I guess? Like nothing official in between and my last girlfriend and I were together for -- 4 years. I'm glad to have a wingwoman -- though I'm not ready for serious shit yet -- but I am always down for fun -- so if you can help me arrange fun that'd be awesome."
"Sorry girl, my knowledge of people in this city is limited -- like I can give you gossip but I haven't gossiped about potential bachelorette's yet -- I'll keep my ears and eyes open though -- a lot of -- like pretty ladies end up coming to retrocity. I'll use my sneaky detective skills to figure out if their single and interested -- I'm good at getting people to talk -- whats ya type? So I know what I need to be looking for!"
she agrees with him, every word, she’s always been deeply enthralled with the plants, and their life. flora, and fauna, both, actually. life, in people too. “ don’t you think you deserve that, too? to grow? ” deeply sentimental, for a moment, before she reaches forward and taps the end of his nose, affectionately with a scrunch of her own. “ anyway, i don’t think you’re crazy. i talk a lot, too. ”
as they sit, allie turns towards him, a little, shoulder to shoulder with a slight angle. “ of course, i’d love to help! and- and you don’t have to pay me. i like chores, and stuff. what do you have to get done? i could be your snow white! ”
“ i had one at home, like, a big one. my mom and i made it, together, but i guess … mostly her. it- it had normal plants, and magical ones, and- and so many flowers. so many, i think it’s the thing i miss the most about home. i mean, of course i miss home, too, but it’s … it’s weird. ” the tail end of her rambles fades as memory draws her in, parts of her turning down, wilting, heavy like they’re wet. she tosses her head, and hair, shaking off the blues. “ anyway, this is the closest thing, ‘cept i guess mine wasn’t so … organized? and it was by the cottage. i loved to sleep in it, too, even more than inside. ” she looks back at him with sparkling eyes, “ we’re, like, so lucky to be here. ”
"Ehh -- I've already done a lot of growing." he sighed. Smiling as she tapped his nose, before, affectionately, shaking his head. "At least I'm not the only one -- there is comfort in it -- for me, like -- I don't know, no judgement from plants you know? Like -- you can tell them anything, they don't care -- they just -- are there -- listening. It's nice."
"Oh I'll find some form of payment -- I can't just -- accept your help and give you nothing in return -- that'd be mean." he smiled, gently nudging her shoulder. "Oh a lot of things -- I'm really behind on laundry, but -- ain't no way I'm letting you near that -- dusting, I suck at dusting, vacuuming too but -- I was waiting to do that until I dusted -- which -- you know, I've been postponing." he admitted. "I think-- that's like the -- mayor two -- which -- are a lot -- because it's my entire appartement-- I was trying to like -- do it room per room like -- do one room each day but - I just -- can't get myself too you know?"
He pulled his knees up, wrapping his arms around his knees and resting his head ontop of them as he listened to her. Sometimes he felt bad about not missing home, it wasn't awful there -- so it felt awful that he felt liberated when he left. "I love unorganized gardens -- my plan, if I ever buy a house -- I want flowers everywhere -- specifically native flowers, no simple cut lawn -- just -- nature doing it's thing -- in moderation of course."
"You know to stay away from the bright light in the sky and the sharp pointy wooden things, right?" Malcolm teased, knowing anyone with vampire knowledge whether they believed or not knew that they had to stay away from that shit or meet their maker for the final time. "No offence, darling, but you're a vampire now so yes, yes you do give off killer vibes. It'll happen, at one point or another, whether you mean to or not." Unless of course, he was a natural at control; he was envious of those rarities considering just how much he struggled with it, and had been encouraged into it in the past.
"We could try bowling, just remember to curb back your strength so that the ball doesn't go through any walls or floors, hm?" He chuckled softly, especially at the werewolf comment. "They say birds can sense danger better than most animals, and unfortunately we're that danger now, to them at least." They had blood, so a vampire could make do with birds and the like if they had to.
"Do I?! Oh I didn't know! God you are my saviour!" Mylo spoke as dramatic as he could, hand gestures and all before rolling his eyes with a smirk on his face. "I mean -- does it have to happen?" he questioned. "I mean -- I like giving off killer vibes -- it's kinda hot -- but -- damn I like being the innocent looking one." he sighed dramatically. He hadn't thought of it like that, of course he'd be giving off killer vibes -- technically he is one. Although he had that thought, he didn't want to hurt anyone, well maybe he wanted to hurt some people, but before he wouldn't have been able too. No matter how badly he wanted to hurt certain people he just didn't have it in him, but now? Things were different.
"Oehh hell yes bowling! Be prepared for some of the best bowling moves ever, and with that -- I mean I'll have my ball end up in the gutter every time without fail. I'm amazing -- I know." he joked. "Apparently I have a lot to learn -- I don't think I've -- like used excessive strength yet -- but to be honest I've been doing fuck all so not really an opportunity to try it out -- I also didn't know that was part of the deal." he rambled. "Wait -- seriously? I-- no come on -- does that mean like -- dogs and stuff don't like us either? Because -- that truly throws a wrench in my plans for immortality." he groaned, there was a lot of stuff that was probably obvious, things he should know or at least realize that he just hadn't truly thought about.
"Not that I know of, but my folks don't really talk about that kind of family history." Lis replied, mirroring his smile before shaking her head at him. "No. No, don't worry. I won't be going to the police about something like this. I imagine they have much more pressing things to deal with. Thanks, though."
"Ah it's just a common name there too-- but I guess it also kinda is here? It's weird sometimes -- like how names make their way over to a country and then -- become so -- like -- used that they lose their roots -- you know?" he rambled. "I mean -- fair enough. I'm just glad you are okay."

His teeth are sunk into an absolutely gorgeous throat, hearbeat thrumming against his fangs until he feels the edge of hunger dull and then blunt completely before pulling back, holding her up while he calls her a ride. All you remember, is that tonight was a nice date, but we just didn't click. Daniel pulls the finger from between the blonde's lips, sucking the remnant clean from an already closed cut, and thumbs away any spillings from her now-healed throat. Walking her out of the dark alcove, he's caught a bit off-guard by somebody else nearby. Blondie, in a slight daze, tucks her hair behind an ear and sheepishly walks off from the two of them. He smiles at the newcomer. "Well, this is awkward."
Mylo had finally managed to tidy up his appartement, he didn't have a shift and everyone he knew seemed to be busy. Since he was starting to finally become more adventures he decided to just go out on a walk, do the one European thing he used to love. Who knows, maybe he met some interesting people or saw some new things to keep himself busy during the night.
He had to admit, he hadn't fully adjusted to the night life yet -- or the vampire life at that. So when he spotted two people, tucked away he figured he could try to learn the skill of listening for heartbeats. But as every time he tried, he got overwhelmed with all the other sounds going on, for some reason he usually ended up focusing on the buzzing of street lights. When he noticed the two walk away, he thought of just running off to not seem like -- well a creep, or a perv. Because that's definitely the vibe he would be giving off right now.

"As long as its Platonic.“ he was young. She was frozen at 35. “I’m technically 45, but I was frozen in my mid thirties.” Aelin smiled at the thought of having a platonic, vampire friendships. From her experience, that was hard to find. She liked the idea of it and was not opposed to giving it a whirl.
“I mean, I’m a lesbian anyway, and technically married. I only have room for platonic.” She forced a laugh but it wasn’t all that funny in reality. It was awful to be dealt such a hand. “Well according to our vows I think I’m off the hook.” She wouldn’t have made it this far without a sense of wicked humor.
“Any plans for immortality?”
"See, we wouldn't work anyway -- I mean -- I do swing both ways but I have my limits you know -- I'm not about to be a homewrecker -- and also I may have a slight weakness in favor of men -- but still nah platonic all the way!" he smiled, gently bumping his shoulder into hers. "I mean-- I guess? Technically? But you're -- like undead so -- how does that even like -- work?" he questioned. "No no sorry no we were not going to be talking about it!" he quickly said, shaking his head.
"I mean -- I didn't plan on being immortal so-- no? Maybe hopefully make some immortal friends, and probably mess around -- a lot -- but not in a bad way -- like harmless dumb shit you know? Like see if I can like -- befriend some wild animals or some shit like that! You?"
"Heh, yeah, as far as I know anyways - I'm just here for he dryers." Rafa, looking back to his phone, pauses the video on the bit about making the duxelles because it seems weirdly technical for something that's essentially mushroom paste and he really wants Theo to be impressed. Turning, he checks the timers on his dryers, calling behind him. "Lemme know if one eats your quarters though, I've got a trick for fixing that."
Rafa finds his seat again and goes back to his stupid Gordon Ramsey video. "You ever have Beef Wellington?" He asks, making conversation more than anything. "Like for real?"
"Fuck-- ehm -- well thank you." he quietely sighed to himself, before giving the other a friendly smile again. Heading towards the washing machine he figured was least threatening. He started piling his clothes in, god did he hate having to do that. As far as he was aware there were very few laundromats in Belgium, there was one place he liked to go. Not to do his laundry but to eat, the one place in Belgium that actually mixed being able to actually go to wash your clothes where they also served food, it was a nice enough place.
"Oh -- right there's that too." he groaned, finishing with the washing machine and actually going to put his quarters in.
