Being a Whaler isn't a easy job. Not one for the weak of will or constitution. But it puts food in the belly and a roof overhead. What street kid doesn't cling to that.

So, I know I haven’t been here for a few months, but you can consider it official that this blog is closed. I wanted this to be a good experience, a fun one. But honestly it wasn’t. Not counting the few others that interacted with me, the rp community for Dishonored is practically dead. It’s full of the same muses, or ‘special’ OCs, and many of the people I’ve spoken with, or tried to speak with are clique-ish or rude. And being a such a small community, doesn’t help with its front. Another big reason I left was because I felt ignored. I would get a few nibbles but nothing would come of it, or I would sit idle and twiddled my thumbs (this doesn’t relate to those who did actually roleplay with me). And when I heard news that there was to be another Thomas made, that was it. That was the camel that broke the straws back. I had worked hard to make Thomas into, what I thought, was a believable figure, and instead, I was ignored and another Thomas was favored. It was heartbreaking and disheartening, and I’ve actually not gone back to tumblr roleplaying because of it. You’ve literally ruined it for me. So, there.

        Thomas steped back, refused to put his hands up to show his mercy but he tilted his head (neck exposed to the alpha) and sighed, though the noise is muffled by the mask and does not come out for what it is. “Of course, sir.” He said, and then he is silent. Bitterly so.

         He’ll keep his comments to himself now, otherwise his blood will join Billie’s on the blade.

        What was it that made Daud burst like it? He was a ball of nerves.

                An assassin should be regained and composed, not reckless. He scolded himself.

        “ You are dismissed. We’ll leave tomorrow, once you have all the information regarding Lizzy Stride. ” As he said that, he noticed a rat on the floor. It was not half a second before the creature was in his hands. Daud held it by the tail. “ Food is becoming less and less available. I wonder if we will have to eat rats soon. ”

         “The hopeless of Dunwall have been doing it for some time already.” Thomas supplied before he bowed, and moved to step away. The events just now had left a bitter flavor in his mouth and he curled and uncurled his hand, the one he used to transverse from place to place to place.

         It felt weak. Curious.

         “I’ll leave you to your thoughts, sir.” He said, bowed again and then walked out from the room.

         And maybe the doors shut a little too hard afterwards.

          Looking up with an almost annoyed expression, Daud returned his attention to the plate, with the half eaten food in it. He was no longer hungry.

          “ It’s fine, I don’t need much. ” His hand hovered above one of the bone charms, the one that enchanted his stomach to make more of the little amount of food he ate. 

          His next remark was less welcomed than the first. Now Daud stood up. “ One time, I let a person close enough, and she almost had my life in her hand. ” He looked at his knife, the one that beared the blood of his ex Second in Command.

                      “ I will never let someone see me as anything other than an assassin. ”

Aaaah, I’m sorry. I have such a love/hate with being active on anything. Not mention very heavy drops of emotions. Seeing a new Thomas has made me a little, eeeeh about coming back on this guy. Along with some, don’t know, semi-disrespectful behavior? But I’ll try to be more active!!

Thomas & Daud

         Thomas watched carefully and did not comment or speak of what emotions he read on the older man’s face. Daud may think himself above it, but for Thomas, he was always an easy read. He shifted, foot to foot to foot before nodding and stepping forward, resting up against the table and pointing to Coldridge on the map.

         “There’s saying she’s been taken there. Mutiny by a member. We haven’t any news yet on the state of her boat, however. Or what part of the prisons she’s in. Give a few more hours, may a day at most, and I’ll have the rest of the information you’ll need.” He said, tilting his head as affirmation to his words.

        He nodded. “ Good. You are dismissed. ” Daud put the small diary in one of his drawers, he would read it later, and see for how long was Billie thinking of getting rid of him.

        A few hours passed, and it was dinning time, Daud asked for someone to bring his food to his bedchambers. He no longer ate with his assassins. A loaf of bread with a sliced piece of old meat. It was fair enough, given that most of the city      ate only a rat a few days a week.

     “You should be eating better.” Thomas answered, brows furrowed behind his mask before he settled papers down on the desk. He watches the man, how the he has shifted from the proud fellow months ago, to the older man he is now.

     His bones must ache. “They won’t say it, but they do miss you. It wouldn’t hurt to dine every so often.” He added, before, maybe, his words may not be welcomed. His pressence invading. His...

Bronze Letter Opener

Dated: 1890

Culture: French

Measurements: overall length 10 ½" (26.67cm)

This French ‘dagger’ letter opener is crafted of chased doré bronze (or ormolu, signifying ground or pounded gold, is an English term, used since the 18th century for the technique of applying finely ground, high-carat gold–mercury amalgam to an object of bronze, and for objects finished in this way. The mercury is driven off in a kiln leaving behind a gold-colored veneer. The French refer to this technique as bronze doré, while in English, it is known as “gilt bronze”).

This instrument features a handle in the form of a robed skeleton standing atop a cross guard in the form of a bat with wings outstretched. Emblems of fleeting time and death, the hour glass and the owl, adorn the scabbard. Also, the scabbard is engraved and dated “R. Gourmel / Paris / 1890”.

Handmade Swords - Reverse-edged Falchion

A 14th century reverse-edged falchion by James G. Elmslie, of type F2- according to the typology to be published in the Deutsches Klingenmuseum “The Sword: Form and Thought” exhibition catalogue.

The sword is based upon but not directly copying the two surviving examples of the type, found in the Legersmuseum, Delft, and the Musée de l'Armée, Paris, this falchion is part of ongoing research work into Medieval European single-edged weapons.

This distinctive falchion type can be dated with a high degree of precision due to its short period of use. First appearing in manuscript illuminations and marginalia around the 1320’s, they appear to have remained in use for only around 50 years, with the last depictions of their distinctive shape being found in the 1370’s.

They appear to have developed as a response to the increasing use of plate defence, and the need for a narrower thrusting tip than the previous generation of broad, cleaver-profiled falchions of the later 13th century, but were rapidly made obsolete by the rise of the Oakeshott type XV double-edged swords.

The handmade blade of EN45 carbon steel features an unusual medial taper, rather than the conventional distal taper of most swords; measured in cross-section, the blade thickness narrows towards the widest point of the profile, before flaring outwards to form a reinforced tip suited to thrusting into targets. 

Likewise it features an unusual asymmetric fuller, on one side only, a feature to be found on the example in the Legersmuseum, Delft. The blade is marked with a cross potent within a circle, inlaid with 24-carat gold wire.

The cross of steel is based on the surviving falchion in the Musée de l'Armée, while the type J pommel, hand-cast in bronze, is based on proportions of more conventional swords.

The falchion will be made available for sale at the Deutsches Klingenmuseum, Solingen “The Sword: Form and Thought” trade show, hosted on September 26th, and will be available through the artist’s website afterward.

Basket-hilted Broadsword

Dated: circa 1780

Culture: Scottish

Measurements: overall length 106 cm; blade length 90.8 cm

The sword has an earlier blade, probably late 17th or early 18th century, of broad robust form, cut with a central fuller running over most of its length on both sides, flanked by a slightly shorter pair of fullers, and cut with additional short fullers at the ricasso. The blade is inscribed “Andrea Ferara” in stamped letters framed within a series of decorative marks on both sides at the forte. The iron basket-guard of Glasgow type is formed of symmetrical oval bars carrying pierced linear-engraved panels, fluted hemispherical pommel capped by a prominent button, and original moulded fishskin grip bound with copper wire.
