'Hidden' Dagger (handle for a walking cane)
Dated: late 16th century
Culture: North ItalianÂ
Measurments: overall length 40Â cm
This dagger was hidden inside a walking cane and served as a handle. It has a straight, double-edged blade with long tang, engraved and gold inlaid with floral motifs for the entire length. The grip of octagonal section is decorated en suite with capital-shaped edges, while the lower one features striped decorations and silver dots. The upper one comes with with fine bas-relieved and silver trophies depicting helmets, cuirasses, a bow with quiver and sword. The handle also has a small button a disc engraved with foliage.
