I want to explain more about my idea for the role of the Zora Armor in my Miphlink x Tangled AU :)
So basically in this AU, as I’ve said before, Link’s original reason for going to Vah Ruta is to retrieve Mipha’s tiara in exchange for a reward. The reward promised to him by King Dorephan and Prince Sidon is the Zora Armor!
In BotW, when Muzu sees Dorephan give Link the armor, he is greatly upset. This is the same case in this AU!
In this AU, when Muzu hears that the Zora Armor will be given to Link, he goes and tells the rest of the elderly Zora of the domain about it, and they all band together and try to put a stop to this, since they all share a dislike for Link and blame him for Mipha’s disappearance.
So the Zora meet with the Yiga clan and work with them to try and take down Link, they also offer a prize of some sort for a job well done. Seeing as both groups dislike Link, it makes sense!
Additionally, because it’s a story partially based off of Tangled, the elderly Zora that hate link are like the Royal Guard of Corona and the Yiga Clan plays the role of the pub thugs in the Snuggly Duckling. Both of these groups in Tangled disliked Eugene, the Royal Guard wanted to get rid of him, and the pub thugs thought he was annoying and would’ve loved to collect the bounty reward on him.
However, much like Eugene eventually wins over the thugs in the Snuggly Duckling and befriends them, so too does Link befriend the Yiga in this AU (well, all except two Yiga who play the role of the Stabbington Brothers, they never give up on their mission).
Eventually though, even despite the elderly Zora’s best efforts, Link does obtain the Zora Armor in the end, and that is the final piece of the puzzle for Link and Mipha regaining their memories of each other from 100 years ago!
I’ve been experimenting with ideas for Mipha’s tiara in my Miphlink x Tangled AU for a while!
My art style is so inconsistent… oh well!!
I want to keep the three main tear drop shaped gems that Rapunzel has on her tiara, but I’m not sure yet if I want them to be positioned like they are in Tangled, or be attached and dangling on Mipha’s forehead like the singular gem on Mipha’s tiara in BotW.
I’ll likely just settle on some combination of both!!
In your Tangled AU, what's Link purpose for going to Mipha in the first place?
I should be able to just answer this in a few short words, but nope!! I’m gonna ramble about it excessively!! :D
So my AU’s story is meant to be a combination of the story of Tangled and the Vah Ruta main quest in BotW. So in my AU, Link is sent to Vah Ruta by King Dorephan and Prince Sidon, like he was in the game. However, instead of being sent to stop Vah Ruta from flooding Zora’s Domain, Link is sent to retrieve something for the Zora royal family!
In the movie Tangled, Eugene’s whole thing in the beginning was that he was after Rapunzel’s tiara. So I thought it’d be neat for my AU if instead of Link stealing Mipha’s tiara from the Zora royal family, he retrieves it for them! And in my AU, Link’s personality is very similar to Eugene’s (because he spent 100 years in the shrine of resurrection, and forgot who he was, so he awakened as a more lighthearted, silly and sarcastic version of himself!) and Link was promised a valuable reward for getting Mipha’s tiara back to them (currently, I’m thinking the reward might be the Zora Armor! I can expand on that idea another time :)) so Link’s true motivation in the beginning here is retrieving the tiara and getting his reward!
So in my AU, Vah Ruta is dormant, not on a rampage like in the game. So Link is able to enter it easily, and when inside he begins his search for Mipha’s tiara! Waterblight had hidden all of Mipha’s jewelry somewhere in Vah Ruta so that she wouldn’t find it, for fear that she might regain her memories from it. So Link has to search through Vah Ruta to find Mipha’s tiara. He eventually finds it, but of course, Mipha sees Link and knocks him out, interrogates him, and makes a deal with him that he will take her to see these shining lights that she notices appears nearby once a year! (It’s the lights from the Zora’s Champion Festival, and the light is glow from luminous stones)
So yeah! That’s why Link goes to Mipha! Basically he’s just trying to get her tiara cause he wants the reward that he was promised, but then he ends up falling in love with Mipha and regaining his memories of her as they go on their adventure together!!

Assorted messy sketches from my Miphlink x Tangled AU :)
The first two sketches are of Mipha and Link with lyrics from “Something That I Want” by Grace Potter ~ it’s the song that plays during the credits for Tangled and it is stuck. in. my head.
The third sketch is of Waterblight Mother Gothel and Mipha, I’m still working on Waterblight’s design but I still wanted to draw her :)
Same thing for Master Kohga in the fourth sketch, stiiiiiill designing him 😓 (procrastination, my beloved) so he looks pretty normal except for the vicious sickle as his hook hand, but I was wondering what his dream might be and thought “oh maybe he dreams about having his own mighty banana farm??” I mean, the guy’s obsessed with them!
The fifth sketch is when Link dies in the AU (spoiler alert!! he’s resurrected, he’s ok!!) and Mipha can’t heal him at first :( I’m still pondering over the reasoning as to why she can’t heal him (in the movie, Rapunzel can’t heal Eugene cause her hair is cut, but umm.. cutting off Mipha’s head tail seemed a bit morbid and so I need to come up with something else!! Maybe Waterblight stole Mipha’s power somehow???)
I’ve been thinking a lot about how things used to be when they were young… and also how Link will never fully remember it, but Mipha will…….. alone…… 🥲
(But umm… ignore the fact that his face is slightly off… I’m never drawing a Zora from this angle ever again 🥲)
He’s another one of my beloved Zelda OCs :)
He is Mipha and Link’s son, and he’s from the Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity era!

Like all my Zelda OCs, he’s kind of a mess! I’m still figuring out his and all of the others’ designs and things but this is what I have about him so far!!
Caspian is my other OC Leona’s brother. He’s more of an older brother to her, but technically they are about the same age. He and his sister were adopted by Mipha and Link after they were sent to the couple by the goddess Hylia.
Caspian is a bit different from typical Zora, for one thing, he ages faster. Not quite at the same rate as Hylians, but certainly quicker than Zora. He also has his mom’s healing powers! (He makes use of them quite often because of his reckless sister who is always injuring herself somehow. she’s one of those people who’d love to dive off of shatterback point)
He also has his father’s eyes! His dad is a Hylian, so his irises and pupils are much rounder than a typical Zora’s would be.
(I feel like I drew his eyes a liiiiittle too close together but oh well!!)
And some other stuff about him ~
He is very quiet and reserved. He’s doesn’t talk very much (kind of like his dad!) and when he does talk, he is very quiet.
He’s a total bookworm too, and he spends most of his time reading. Books don’t do so well in Zora’s Domain, so he is very protective of them. He won’t let any of his books close to water, and refuses to let others borrow them in case they accidentally get splashed by any of the thousands of streams and/or waterfalls nearby.
His favorite food dish is creamy heart soup. His dad makes it for family meals now and then, and so the dish always brings up memories of fun times spent with his loved ones.
Even though he is a Zora, he wears a lot of Hylian clothing. His clothing is long and a bit oversized, his sleeves hide his hands and arm fins, and he wears a long dress shirt/tunic type thing and trousers. He’s a bit self conscious, and he feels more comfortable in Hylian clothing. He also doesn’t swim very much anyways, so his clothing’s not really an annoyance for him.
He has a sash that is the same color blue as the champions’ garb. His sister also has a blue champion clothing item, and Princess Zelda made him this sash like she made his sister’s tunic!
He has a childhood friend who is Gerudo, her family lived in a small village near Zora’s Domain. (That’s all I will say about her for now, I wanna do a separate post that’s just about her!)
I normally draw characters with a black pen or pencil, so this was my first time doing one with colored lines, and it also took me forever to finish. I don’t hate it and it’s actually kinda pretty!
She is Link and Mipha’s daughter, and she’s from the Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity era

Leona and her brother (I will post his design another time!) are adopted. In this AU of mine, a couple of years after the events of AoC and Link and Mipha’s wedding, Link and Mipha decided they wanted kids. My headcanon is that the chances of them being able to have biological kids is very unlikely. So they prayed to Hylia asking if she’d help them.
And then Hylia sent Mipha and Link Leona and her brother (probably via a stork blue-winged heron or something because why not?? I think I’m so funny for this)
And something neat about Leona~ even though she is Hylian, she has zora eyes! (really there’s not much difference between the eyes that I’ve noticed except for the fact that zora irises and pupils are taller than hylians’ but still)
Not only that, but they’re her mom’s eyes :)
same kind of thing happened with her brother, even though he’s a Zora, he’s got Hylian eyes that look exactly like his dad’s
And a little more about her ~
She is very adventurous and wants to explore all of Hyrule someday, but her parents don’t let her go out on her own so most of the time she just hangs out in Zora’s Domain.
She studies maps in her free time and probably has all of Hyrule’s geography memorized.
She reeeeeally loves wildberry crepes, and she often cooks meals with her dad :)
She has a cool weapon (that I am struggling to draw correctly so I unfortunately don’t have a picture!) and it’s like a sword and a spear combined, so she learns to fight from both of her parents in both of their styles!
She also has a blupee companion!! He has a little bandana that he wears and he is very cute
Over her pink dress, she wears a tunic that looks a lot like Link’s tunic that was made by Zelda. This is because Zelda also made Leona her tunic! Leona has looked up to all of the champions and the princess ever since she was really young, and wanted to be one of them, so Zelda made the tunic for her as a gift and it’s Leona’s favorite thing to wear!!
She typically likes to wear more casual Hylian clothing, but she does wear some Zora made jewelry as well!
And that’s all for now~ there’s more to say about this AU story and about Leona but I need to finalize the other characters’ designs and stories first! (ughhhhhh I should have waited till they were all finished and THEN posted about all of my characters together but I don’t have the patience for that)
