every time I want to test my art skills--and see how my art has evolved--I try to draw a Hylian Mipha.

this is because it challenges how good I am with metal, water, hair, shading, clothing, gems, proportions, and so on. it also challenges my character designing skills, as I have to interpret Mipha's original design into something human-like.

this is my fifth Hylian Mipha. previous four are below:

most of them are never finished, often because I reach my skill cap, but it has been very good practice for the past 5 years. I encourage everyone to try humanizing non-human characters you enjoy and to test your skills as well. I'd love to see everyone's art, if you do try this out! (❁´◡`❁)

i have a really specific set of headcanons that 99% of this fandom would hate but here's a scene that's been bouncing around my head for it.

essentially Link's mysterious past and time-related powers can be credited to being a bastard child of the Queen, and upon being discovered after the Queen's passing, the King had him instantly shuttled to Zora's Domain with a handful of knights to keep the boy out of his sight. Thus why a majority of Link's childhood as a knight can be credited in the Domain, until he was a little too good at being a knight, at which point Rhoam could no longer ignore the little problem on his hands and started putting him on increasingly dangerous missions.

Link, however, would rise to the occasion, and succeed in his impossible tasks every time, only serving to infuriate a King who already thinks his daughter is worthless, causing him to compare Zelda and her bastard half-brother constantly, not that she would ever know it. All Zelda knows is her father is never satisfied with her progress.

Mipha discovers this, and is sort of seething that the King would 1. treat a child so callously as to force him to remain in the army in the hopes it would get him killed and 2. deprive Zelda of growing up with a sibling just so the King could continue to put pressure on her and isolate her, whilst retaining his rule after his wife's death. It causes the King immense distress to have his power questioned, which it is, regularly - after all, he married INTO the hylian royal family. He doesn't have a drop of Zonai in him.

Mipha's hope to protect her beloved Link from the King's plans to get his ass killed in the Calamity's war involves marrying him. After all, he's technically of noble blood, and if King Rhoam was to risk his life then, it would be a call to action against the Zora; this scheme might've worked, had the Calamity not jacked everything up.
