some dayeon for @myouwos i hope you have a nice relaxing break and a good holiday! lots of love 💞
nayeon steps into the dorm to the soft sounds of piano playing, smiling as she shuffles off her shoes and hangs her coat up. it’s not often dahyun plays while the dorm is full of people, whether it be she doesn’t want to bother or she’s embarrassed nayeon is quite sure.
and it’s seemingly the same way now, the dorm vacant save for dahyun and now nayeon, who she isn’t aware yet has gotten home. she wishes dahyun would play more for them, it’s a soothing sort of sound through the dorm, and especially in line with the christmas season given the song she’s chosen is silent night.
nayeon pads down the hallway to the maknae room, peeking in the doorway and letting a fond smile play on her lips at how focused dahyun is at the piano, humming along while she plays.
christmas carols are contagious, nayeon thinks, almost an instinct she doesn’t think about to start singing along, making dahyun’s head turn with surprise to the doorway at nayeon’s sudden accompaniment, though miraculously her fingers don’t stop playing the notes.
“i didnt know you were home,” dahyun murmurs, cheeks pink, looking a bit sheepish.
“i just got back,” nayeon sighs, coming further into the room and walking over to place her hands on dahyun’s shoulders, feeling the younger girl lean back against her. “you should play more often when we can hear. you sound pretty.”
“so did you,” dahyun peeks up at nayeon, a bright grin making her eyes crinkle at the corner, and nayeon’s heart feels warm. “i’ll play more if you sing for me more.”
“it’s hard not to sing when you’re playing,” nayeon grins, shooing dahyun to scoot over on the bench by her keyboard, sitting beside her. “you weren’t even looking at the keys for that last part.”
“it’s silent night, everyone knows silent night,” dahyun laughs, and nayeon gives her an amused look.
“i don’t,” she counters, eyebrows raised.
“it’s easy,” dahyun places her fingers on the keys, showing nayeon the beginning rhythms. “here, let me teach you.”
nayeon watches her intently, the rhythms familiar but different in the same vein, prettier under dahyun’s fingers she thinks.
“you try,” dahyun coaxes, guiding nayeon to play the first few rhythms, smiling encouragingly though it’s a bit clunky and not quite up to speed, not quite with the ease dahyun plays.
“i think i’ll stick to singing it,” nayeon jokes, leaning her head on dahyun’s shoulder. “nobody plays quite like you.”
“you’re sweet, unnie,” dahyun whispers, leaning to place a kiss to nayeon’s head, smiling when nayeon smiles.
